The 2026 Show Me National Qualifier took place April 11-13 in Kansas City. Iowa was well represented and represented well at the event.

Here's a closer look at standout back-row players from the event for whom I'd not yet written evaluations this club season:

I've scouted Jackson throughout the last few years of club and high school ball. At the state tournament with Dallas Center-Grimes in the fall, she'd taken a step forward since watching her with PowerPlex last season. The latest viewing happened at the 2026 ASICS Show Me National Qualifier during mid-April in Kansas City. Jackson was holding down the back row for PowerPlex 16U Nelson, which finished eighth in the USA Division after previously securing a Freedom Division bid to this summer's USAV National Tournament in Indianapolis. The DCG sophomore has steadily sharpened her skills and consistency. She was in control of the action and keeping her operation in system in KC. Jackson is athletic and quick, moving well laterally and flashing fast reflexes. Jackson piled up 445 digs in 101 sets during the Mustangs' run to the state tournament. She's on a great trajectory for the future right now.

When I saw Six Pack 17 competing at the Windy City National Qualifier in early April, Demmer was operating as the team's defensive specialist. A week later at the ASICS Show Me National Qualifier in Kansas City, the Western Dubuque junior was wearing the jersey. In both instances, she'd shown growth since my last in-person scouting opportunity last club campaign. That wasn't surprising considering Demmer registered 424 digs for the Bobcats during last season. Demmer flashes the instincts and reflexes required for success in the back row. She flows well with the action and gets to her spots, delivering precise passes off of digs. Demmer picks up the ball well in serve-receive and communicates well with teammates. With her Six Pack team winning the Liberty Division in KC, it will play in this summer's USAV National Tournament in Indianapolis. Demmer will benefit from the exposure as someone worthy of more attention along the recruiting trail.

CIA 15 Black played above its seed in finishing third at the USAV Iowa Regional Tournament in late March. Adams was a key reason why the team achieved its goal of qualifying for the USAV National Tournament this summer in Indianapolis. A strong defensive specialist is an often overlooked position of importance for successful teams. Adams looks natural in the back row, technically sound in digging and passing. She flows well with the match action and puts herself in positions to make plays. Adams communicates well with teammates and plays well off of them. She saw action on the Don Bosco varsity during the 2026 season. The way she's performed through multiple in-person scouts this club season makes her an excellent choice to be a breakout player this coming campaign.

Morlan competes with one of my favorite teams to watch this season - CR Surge U15 Jeff. The squad competes hard and plays together. I've watched them on multiple occasions throughout the season. The most recent viewing happened in mid-April at the ASICS Show Me National Qualifier in Kansas City. It finished 5-2, the best outcome from the club's entires. When I was watching, Morlan impressed me with her consistency in the back row. She took charge on defense and hung tough on serve-receive. Morlan is well coached and technically sound, which isn't surprising considering the club and high school for which she competes. Growth can be expected during the next few years, giving her a good chance of reaching her recognizable potential. Morlan is one to watch moving forward.

I've put off this evaluation long enough. I'll be as objective as possible. I'm obviously very familiar with this player. Let's be honest, she's my favorite player. She's also pretty good. The 2026 ASICS Show Me National Qualifier during the middle of April in Kansas City wasn't the first time I realized that. I've watched her work hard to get better. And she's doing it as a three-sport athlete. Volleyball is her love, however, and Audrey was at her best in KC. With her friend out with injury, she stepped in as the libero, her performance a key to Rockets 15R reaching the Gold Bracket in the USA Division. When putting on the jersey, I encouraged her to continue doing what she did as a key component to team success playing DS. She did exactly that. Her strength is delivering in-system passes off serve-receive. Audrey has improved her consistency there as she has in digging up the attack. More reps and good coaching have her flowing better with the action, reading the attack and getting properly positioned based on where the block will be thrown up. Her serve also can be a weapon. She has a chance to be one of the better defenders in Iowa's 2029 Class.
