The lights were bright in Reno, Nevada, as teams from Missouri and Kansas closed out their club careers at the 2026 USA Volleyball Girls 18s Junior National Championship. Across multiple divisions, the region once again proved it can compete with anyone in the country, highlighted by deep bracket runs, a national top-five finish, and several programs showing they belong on the biggest stage.

In 18 Open, the headline performance came from the Kansas City area. [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] 18-1 capped off a tremendous season with a fifth-place national finish in the toughest division in the country. After podium-level results at MLK, Northern Lights, and Triple Crown, [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] backed it up in Reno with another elite showing. Their mix of terminal attacking, disciplined ball control, and steady defense allowed them to navigate one of the deepest fields in the event. Ella Stowell earned All-Tournament Team honors for her efforts.

Also in Open, [program_tooltip program_id='515466' first='Pohaku' last=''] 18-1 finished inside the top 20 with a 4-4 record, while MAVS KC placed 33rd. HPSTL 18 Royal followed at 55th. While those finishes may not fully reflect the level of play, simply surviving in Open requires consistency and depth. Reno once again showed how razor-thin the margins are, where just a few swings can reshape an entire tournament run.

The National Division featured several teams from the region looking to make noise. [program_tooltip program_id='428799' first='Rockwood' last='Thunder'] 18 Elite continued its strong season, finishing 13th with a 5-2 record after earning a USA title at Windy City earlier in the year and later upgrading its bid. Their experience and offensive balance once again translated on the national stage. Heart of America teams Topeka Impact and Summit Volleyball added to the depth, finishing 35th and 37th, respectively.

They didn't suffer their first loss until the championship match and didn't drop a set until the final. [player_tooltip player_id='480396' first='Peyton' last='Kubik'], who joined for the run, earned All-Tournament honors alongside Sydni Lafasciasno and Alayna Vaeth. 417 [program_tooltip program_id='490801' first='Missouri' last='Juniors'] also had a strong showing, finishing 11th.

Over in Freedom, the Mighty Manhattan Mambas put together an impressive run, finishing fifth with a 6-1 record. Addyson Pladson was named to the All-Tournament Team.

One of the biggest takeaways from the weekend was the overall depth across Missouri and Kansas. These regions are no longer sending just one or two teams capable of competing nationally. Multiple clubs on both sides of the state line have built sustainable pipelines, and the results reflect that growth. From Kansas City to St. Louis, athletes are arriving at nationals more prepared, more athletic, and more battle-tested than ever.

For the seniors, Reno marked the final chapter of their club careers. Some will continue at the collegiate level across NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA, while others close the book on years filled with qualifier weekends, [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League battles, and cross-country travel. Regardless of final placement, the region once again proved it belongs in the national conversation.
