That June 15th threshold is quickly approaching, and we're looking for new ways to spotlight as many outstanding Nebraska 2028s as possible. The Cornhusker State has contributed countless high-impact athletes to the collegiate game, and it's been a group effort to establish that trend.

Sometimes, those groups come in pairs. We're continuing our quest to showcase some of the Great Plains Region's most prolific setter-hitter combos in the rising junior class. These adaptable gems are ready for upperclassman status.

Raegan Augustine and Haley Pedersen - [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] 16 Red

Last month's Show Me Qualifier reshaped how we view many of [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs']' up-and-coming athletes.

16 Red added to this storyline with a Gold bracket appearance in Kansas City, but that wasn't the only high-profile triumph for this group. River City followed it up with a division championship at the Nebraska Showdown, propelling Augustine and Pedersen into the Class of 2028 conversation.

Augustine has the kind of skill set you'd expect from a River City setter. 16 Red benefits from her hustle in the right-back area and her quick pace to both pins.

But it's not just the pins who flourish. Pedersen is the physical centerpiece of 16 Red's net presence and can detonate on up-tempo sets in front of the setter. Augustine has harnessed this range while allowing Pedersen to dictate her own routes in first-ball situations.

We're eager to see updates to the collective highlight tape at AAU Nationals.

Another shoutout was due for [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Titanium.

Like many of the teams we've featured throughout this series, [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Titanium has wielded plenty of different lineups throughout the 2026 season. That variety demands stable on-court leaders, especially as 16 Titanium battled at USAV's Open level. Bartunek and Peterson were two clear anchors.

It's been a banner year for Bartunek, who piloted Freeman High School's attack to a state championship last fall. She has adapted to any 16 Titanium system and has leaned on Peterson in any situation. Peterson has primarily patrolled the right pin this year, but her explosive two-footed takeoff has also translated to left-side success. Bartunek finds the Seward standout either way.

[player_tooltip player_id='930879' first='Riley' last='Svehla'] and [player_tooltip player_id='737393' first='Bailey' last='Gerths'] - Nebraska D-League 16U

Never leave out Nebraska's rural scene when building your recruiting board.

Svehla and Gerths have been trendsetters for their respective high schools, and they're only halfway through their prep tenures. Svehla dished out 8.8 assists per set for a resurgent Howells-Dodge program, while Gerths tallied an astonishing 500 kills as Guardian Angels Central Catholic's go-to outside hitter.

Unsurprisingly, this dynamic combo has flourished with Nebraska D-League's top 16s lineup. Aside from the persistent impact from this duo on the volleyball court, Svehla and Gerths boost their recruiting stock as multi-sport athletes eager to compete at any venue. College coaches are keen on finding all-around contributors.

Every club season comes with new connections, and Premier Nebraska 16 Silver brought plenty of good ones.

McGaugh was a big-time addition to this year's 16 Silver lineup, instantly boosting the team's length and firepower at the middle blocker spot. She seamlessly picked up the team's diverse offense and has developed a wicked crosscourt shot on the 'gap' set.

Skilled setters often make these transitions easier, and that's where Lamme enters the equation. The Omaha Marian prep athlete has maintained her command of the 16 Silver operation and does a lot more than handle second contacts. Lamme also wields exceptional defensive instincts to keep Premier Nebraska in long, grueling rallies. This turned the tide during 16 Silver's eventful tenure at the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament.
