SLC Showdown Court Leaders

During Weekend 2 of SLC Showdown, there was some impressive talent along with standout court leaders who made a real difference for their teams. Whether it was extending rallies with relentless defense, keeping serve receive sharp, or producing key points at the net, these players consistently separated themselves from the field.    Piper Jenkins is everything you would want your libero to be. She plays with great energy and speed, but still remains under control in every facet of her game. Defensively, she showed impressive range and anticipation, which helped her make quality touches on the ball.   Piper took care of the easy stuff and never went to the floor if she did not have to, showcasing her discipline and focus at all times. In serve receive, she read early, created solid angles, and kept her footwork simple to keep the ball in front and off her hip. Her team was often in a 2-passer serve receive set-up, and Piper read early enough to pass confidently and with ease to target.     Zona 15 Black   [player_tooltip player_id='888747' first='Alexia' last='Gould'] from Zona has a solid arm and clean mechanics. She did a great job of identifying holes in defenses with different shots and tips. She didn't rely solely on power, but instead executed on what was available by making smart, controlled decisions.    Alexia has a quiet confidence on the court and leads by her ability to find ways to score and keep her team in system on defense and serve receive.     [player_tooltip player_id='891297' first='Elle' last='Deakman'] was a solid offensive and defensive force for her team. She made great reads and moves on defense to extend rallies and keep her team in system.   As an attacker, she showcased a wide range of shots and attacks that kept the defenses guessing and forced opponents out of system. Elle elevates well, which granted her the ability to find kills high hands often. She scored effectively into zone 4 and hard down the line, making it difficult for teams to stop her.     Venezia Lopez this past weekend, anchored serve receive with her ability to take care of balls in the seams. On defense, she made quick reads to pick up tips and setter dumps while staying on her feet and keeping the ball on target. She excelled in taking power off hard-driven attacks to keep the ball on her side of the net.     [player_tooltip player_id='960690' first='Kennadee' last='Justice'] is a growing force in this age group. She has a heavy, fast arm that delivers great power in her swing, while showing significant improvement in her control. This past weekend she made great adjustments to a variety of sets and showed she can score effectively hard down the line or into the angle.   As a passer, Kennadee demonstrated improved consistency in her accuracy and the ability to read the ball earlier. She made great reads on defense and kept her setter in a position to deliver effective sets.     Aviana Frazier had an impressive showing throughout the tournament. Her natural power and athleticism consistently made her a threat at the net, along with her ability to find kills in seams or around the block. She made good plays on defense and kept her platform controlled in serve receive.
