Elle Deakman is one of those players who makes such a consistent impact on the floor that she can almost make the game look easy—and being an outside hitter is anything but that. There are so many responsibilities that come with the position, yet Elle handled them with composure throughout the showcase and consistently found ways to contribute.

Offensively, Elle worked hard in transition, swung with confidence, and showed great awareness with her shot selection. She sees the court well and doesn’t just swing to swing—there’s purpose behind what she does with the ball. She showed the ability to attack with power when the opportunity was there while also recognizing when she needed to use a smarter shot to find open court.

Her out-of-system termination was especially impressive. When the ball wasn’t perfectly located, Elle didn’t hesitate or suddenly become conservative with her attack. She approached those opportunities with the same confidence she showed on an in-system ball, stayed aggressive, and found ways to generate points in less-than-ideal situations. Being able to turn a broken play into a legitimate scoring opportunity is an incredibly valuable quality for an outside hitter, and Elle showed that ability consistently.

Beyond her physical skill set, Elle brought great communication and leadership to the floor. She stayed engaged with the athletes around her, competed with a steady presence, and looked comfortable taking responsibility in important moments. Between her ability to terminate difficult balls, intelligent shot selection, transition work, and natural leadership, Elle has so many of the qualities you want in an impactful pin. We can’t wait to continue following her and see even more from her as she develops.

Elle is going to really turn some heads at this showcase. A libero early in her career and now has grown and has the explosiveness to be an outside hitter. She really is someone who can fill a stat sheet with her game play and is a coaches dream with how well she can play multiple positions. She is a full 6 rotation outside hitter who can bring a lot with her game in terms of her defense and serve receive. She is an excellent passer who reads the game super wells and moves with flawless footwork. Elle is athletic enough and has the technique to pass and play a lot of balls other pins wouldn’t be able to get to. She also complements her game well by being a dynamic hitter as well and can terminate balls at the net as well. I think this showcase will show a lot of what Elle can do and really raise her profile with the other scouts! She has a chance to make a big statement in a few weeks with her game play.

As an attacker, she showcased a wide range of shots and attacks that kept the defenses guessing and forced opponents out of system. Elle elevates well, which granted her the ability to find kills high hands often. She scored effectively into zone 4 and hard down the line, making it difficult for teams to stop her.
