Why not make it a trilogy?

We've spent the last few days perusing Nebraska's small-town scene to highlight athletes whose skills have translated to club competition. Increased spring participation among the state's rural athletes has created a deeper, more compelling cast of teams to cover across the Great Plains Region. We are so grateful for this trend, and that growth is just getting started.

This new month starts with an extended road trip.

The journey begins in Platteview. This Omaha-area community has given us several notable prep stars lately, and Marshall hopes to be the next in line with Banzai's top 15s squad. This dynamic freshman distributes an efficient attack for 15 Select while also making her own contributions to the scoring ledger. Marshall is physical enough to play around the dial while also being the stable leader to elevate her teammates. These qualities will pay off at Platteview as the Trojans look for a new wave of starters for the 2026 lineup.

We're sticking with our run of setters while bringing Nebraska D-League into the fray. Olson, who has already emerged as a multi-sport standout at Pierce High School, also displays her versatility on the volleyball court with D-League. She's an around-the-dial asset who is often asked to set and hit in the starting lineup. Olson exhibits incredible finesse when setting from the back row, but she also has the firepower and grit to be a go-to frontcourt attacker. Setter-opposite hybrids like Olson have been a staple of Pierce's recent volleyball success, so we aren't surprised to see another one coming up the pipeline.

Of course, South Central NE remains a staple of this feature series. Lind deserves credit for her tireless effort en route to last month's bid-earning triumph. 15 Black slugged to a podium placement at the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament, granting an opportunity for Lind to take her net presence to the national stage. Hastings knows all about this freshman's sky-high scoring potential, as Lind put up nearly 100 kills in her Tiger debut. She is just starting to reach her ceiling while playing whatever position will help the athletes around her.

O'Bannon gathered as much April momentum as any athlete on this feature series. Her VCNebraska 15 Elite crew ended the month with a Show Me Qualifier championship, locking up a 15 USA bid to GJNC. This triumph has perpetuated O'Bannon's upward trajectory after she posted 2.2 kills per set in her first season at Crete High School. 15 Elite finds several ways to incorporate O'Bannon into the lineup, allowing her to bring the heat on either side of the setter. Moreover, this freshman's ball control prowess has also made her a DS option off the bench. O'Bannon's adaptability will make her a key cog in future Indianapolis success.

Antelope Volleyball Club has expanded our reach once again. The Kearney-area group played some of its best volleyball across the board at last month's Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. This venue was a chance for gems like Rademacher to gain some traction before the summer stretch. Arcadia/Loup City already propelled Rademacher onto our radar last fall. The do-everything terminator tallied nearly 200 total kills while also boasting a team-best 3.5 digs per set. Six-rotation outside hitters are a staple of central Nebraska powerhouses, and Rademacher fits the mold.

We remain encapsulated by the small-town influence for Nebraska Juniors 15 Red. This team has posted some promising results on the Great Plains circuit, and Wurtele has had a lot to do with it. The Ashland-Greenwood freshman can soar above opposing blockers and operates best with up-tempo sets to the pins. She has also become one of 15 Red's best wing blockers, adding to Wurtele's extensive scouting report. Wurtele and the Bluejays are eager to build on last year's state tournament breakthrough.
