Last season ended in heartbreak for Wyndmere/Lidgerwood after a playoff loss to Edgeley, but the bigger picture surrounding this program still feels incredibly promising heading into the summer. The pieces returning to the court bring experience, competitiveness, and the type of work ethic coaches love building around. While there will be younger athletes stepping into larger roles, this does not feel like a group waiting for the future. This feels like a team preparing to take another step forward.

One thing that quickly stands out about this roster is balance. The leadership from the senior class gives the team stability, while the younger athletes continue gaining valuable reps through club volleyball and offseason work. There is also versatility throughout the lineup. Multiple players can impact matches in different phases, and that becomes important when teams are trying to survive difficult stretches during the season.

The loss to Edgeley last fall is still motivation, but this summer feels more about growth, chemistry, and continuing to build confidence before stepping back onto the court this fall. The foundation is there for Wyndmere/Lidgerwood to become a tough team to prepare for.

Evelyn Heitkamp brings physicality to the right side and continues developing into a player capable of impacting the match in multiple ways. What stood out most is how comfortable she looks attacking in transition. She does not hesitate when opportunities are there and continues working hard to stay available offensively throughout rallies.

Defensively, she competes well at the net and is beginning to understand how to take away angles instead of simply reacting late to hitters. As she continues gaining confidence, she has the tools to become a major piece offensively for this group.

Reese Hosford will be a big part of the offense this season because of how well she manages tempo and keeps hitters involved. She stays composed during chaotic rallies and works hard to create opportunities even when passes drift off the net.

What really caught my attention is how vocal she stays on the floor. Setters who communicate consistently help settle younger teams, and Reese brings that type of presence. As the offense continues developing chemistry, expect her leadership and decision making to become even more important.

[player_tooltip player_id='953740' first='Jaylin' last='Herbranson'] enters the season as one of the senior leaders and brings valuable experience to the back row. She plays with urgency defensively and continues working to keep rallies alive even when plays break down.

Her ability to stay composed in serve receive will be huge for this team, especially with younger athletes continuing to step into bigger varsity roles. Jaylin's consistency and communication give this group stability when momentum starts shifting during matches.

[player_tooltip player_id='796727' first='Maecy' last='Gaukler'] continues standing out because of the confidence she brings defensively. She reads hitters well, stays balanced before contact, and consistently works to keep first touch under control. What impressed me most is how steady she stays during pressure moments.

Libero play becomes incredibly important for younger teams, and Maecy gives Wyndmere/Lidgerwood a player capable of settling the floor when rallies get scrappy. Her leadership and ability to organize the back row should play a major role this season.

Abigail Olson brings toughness and energy to the defensive side of the court. She competes hard every rally and continues showing growth in how she reads hitters and positions herself before contact.

What I like most is that she does not back away from difficult plays. She works hard to extend rallies and keeps pressure off teammates by covering ground aggressively. Those little details matter over the course of long matches.

Loretta Quam gives this team another setter capable of controlling tempo and helping the offense stay balanced. She stays calm during pressure situations and works to distribute the ball effectively instead of becoming predictable.

One thing that stands out is how engaged she stays with hitters throughout rallies. She communicates well and continues looking for ways to create offensive rhythm, even during broken plays. That composure becomes valuable as younger lineups continue developing confidence together.

[player_tooltip player_id='773809' first='Aria' last='Ryg'] may be one of the most intriguing players to watch this summer. She has been getting great reps during club season, and it is easy to see the growth happening in her game. She moves well laterally at the net, stays aggressive offensively, and continues improving her timing as a blocker.

What really stands out is how active she stays during transition. She keeps working point after point instead of fading out of rallies, and middles who compete that hard create constant pressure on defenses. Expect Aria to be a name people continue talking about this summer.

Eden Hoffert continues showing promise as a younger middle with a strong work ethic and willingness to compete physically at the net. She attacks aggressively and continues learning how to close blocks more effectively against stronger hitters.

There is still a lot of growth ahead, but the effort and motor stand out immediately. Younger middles who are willing to stay aggressive through mistakes usually develop quickly, and Eden looks like a player trending in the right direction.

Teegan Bohnenstingl brings versatility to the outside and continues developing into a player capable of impacting multiple phases of the game. She stays engaged in serve receive, competes defensively, and works hard to stay available offensively during transition.

What stood out most is her ability to adjust during rallies instead of forcing difficult swings. She is beginning to see the court better and make smarter offensive decisions, which should help her continue growing into a reliable pin option this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='817223' first='Mya' last='Kackman'] looks like a player ready to make serious noise this summer. She brings physicality and confidence to the middle position and continues creating problems offensively because of how aggressive she stays at the net.

Her blocking presence also stands out. She works hard laterally, stays disciplined, and continues improving her ability to take away angles instead of simply reacting late. The combination of experience, physical play, and confidence makes her a player opposing teams will have to prepare for this season.

Paislee Erbes continues developing into a reliable option on the right side because of how hard she competes throughout rallies. She stays available offensively and continues learning how to score smarter instead of simply swinging harder.

Defensively, she brings energy and works hard to stay connected during longer points. Players who embrace those gritty moments become incredibly valuable for teams trying to build consistency.

[player_tooltip player_id='953741' first='Hannah' last='Mauch'] enters the season as another important senior leader for this roster. She brings experience, toughness, and composure to the court, which becomes especially valuable with younger athletes stepping into larger roles around her.

What I really like is her ability to compete through pressure moments without letting the game speed her up. She stays engaged defensively, works hard offensively, and continues bringing steady energy point after point. Those are the athletes teams lean on during difficult stretches of the season.

Wyndmere/Lidgerwood may still be developing some younger pieces, but the foundation for a strong season is there. The leadership from the senior class combined with younger athletes gaining valuable reps could make this a very interesting team to follow throughout the summer and into the fall.
