Oh, the ever-unpredictable 15s age group.

This club season has provided a thrilling, wholesale introduction to Nebraska's Class of 2029. Sure, we watched a select few freshmen make a varsity impact last fall, but those are still rare feats on the prep stage. Turning the calendar introduces us to a whole new wave of 15U contenders, and the Great Plains Region has delivered the talent.

And, naturally, that talent has translated to USAV Nationals berths. Nebraska 2029s will loom large in the 15s scene and beyond, and we're officially full steam ahead for our event previews. Consider this a preview of Nebraska's future leaders.

Even after all the 15s chatter in our intro, we have to keep an eye on 2029s playing up with the 16s. That brings us to Hopwood, a Shelby-Rising City standout who brings her multi-faceted game to the Omaha Fusion crew. She made an early splash on the prep side with a whopping 312 kills for the Huskies last fall, giving her the third-highest total among Nebraska freshmen. This proved that Hopwood can terminate against older foes, so her slide up to the 16s scene is just another day in the office. The 16 American division awaits Fusion in Indianapolis.

The Great Plains Region will bring two potential frontrunners to GJNC's 15 Freedom division. Dowdy will be eager to capitalize on this opportunity with VCNebraska 15 Black after her group battled to a bid through the Great Plains Region. Whenever 15 Black delivers a good pass, Dowdy is a sure bet to see plenty of attacking volume behind the setter. Her right-side prowess shines no matter what set she's given. Dowdy's ability to tool off the block and carve angles sets her apart from other opposites, and that could be the key to a deep USAV Nationals run.

Of course, we have to bring our other 15 Freedom contender into the mix. Hanzel has contributed to South Central NE 15 Black's strong net presence, ushering in the next wave of small-town stars from the Aurora-based club. And, like Hopwood, Hanzel put up impressive freshman numbers with a triple-digit kill total. The Cedar Bluffs star patrols the middle for 15 Black and can work with various tempos in first-ball situations. That varied toolbox will be tested in Indy, but Hanzel has brought her best in 15 Black's highest-stakes matchups.

Bachman may play her prep ball in Iowa, but this conversation doesn't feel complete without Club Legacy 15 Alpha's game-changing libero. 15 Alpha boasts an army of defensive specialists and will readily wield them all to establish a serve-receive rhythm. That was especially apparent as Club Legacy clinched a 15 Liberty bid at the buzzer through the SLC Showdown. Bachman ensured 15 Alpha would make amends for coming up just short of the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament podium. Her leadership, consistency, and precision help rally all of 15 Alpha's backcourt troops to produce something special.

We might be biased, but we're so happy to see Nebraska Elite 15 Apex get their due credit as a 15 Open at-large team in the GJNC field. This crew had a diverse array of qualifier travels, from SLC to Big South and everywhere in between. Tate has stood out at any venue she has been to, including December's Prep Dig Exposure Tour event in the Nebraska Elite gym. We couldn't ignore Tate's exceptional Year 1 reps with Elkhorn South, and her influence has persisted against club volleyball's toughest foes. Bring on the Open gauntlet.

Gerdes joins a Premier Nebraska 15 Gold roster full of frontcourt weapons. She made a colossal climb up the Premier Nebraska ladder to join this group and has thrived ever since. She brings a strong, explosive approach in front of the setter and is growing increasingly comfortable for the summer stretch. Her high-end potential flourished on our showcase stage, but 2026's Open experience has brought a new layer to Gerdes' scouting report. It's time to write another chapter in the GJNC trenches.

We had a feeling we'd see Premier Nebraska 15 Silver in the postseason hunt. This loaded group came within a set of a perfect run through the Show Me Qualifier, so the team's retribution against regional foes was no surprise. 15 Silver will loom large again in Indianapolis while looking to Zoucha to provide the firepower. She changes the dynamic whenever she rotates into the frontcourt, where Zoucha wields a whippy arm on the right side. However, this Millard South freshman also offers more ball control skills than you'd expect from a traditional opposite. Lineup options abound for 15 Silver.
