Notables: Aleta 17-1 Day One Success at USAV C.C.

Aleta 17-1 went 3-0 on day one of the this new nationals division and format for USAV. Hamman was a key factor with her arm and ability to score in different ways as they assume the #3 overall seed heading into day two on Saturday. The 5'11 pin showed some good power and movement on the left side, which also included some ability to move the ball around with finesse. She also had some bigger terminal moments with some good authority to drive the ball onto the defense with power. Hamman recently announced her commitment to play for Gannon at the next level.     Yeazel is the floor leader for Aleta 17-1. She is fundamentally sound in her pursuit of the ball and ability to set a quick tempo with touch and accuracy with her mechanics, which included several times getting her hitters into good situations with space to swing through. Her direction guided her team well as they are competing in the 17 Club division. At 5'7, she controls the offense in a 5-1 system through which she can make plays defensively while capable applying a lot of pressure at the service line as well. The Miami Trace product will enter her senior season this next fall with 2,282 assists and 166 service aces for her career so far.     Simpson is the other primary arm on the outside pin for this team. She has experience as a high volume attacker and point scorer through her high school effort for Eastern. This translates well to her aggressiveness and success with this team as an option on the left side and out of the back row if needed. Her 6'0 frame was an impact asset on day one with her ability to get up and contact high with good control to challenge the defense well from different attack points.     Clark's presence in the middle is noteworthy. At 6'3, she provides the best length on this squad, which combines well with her skills and movement at the net on both sides of the ball. One of their best options for quick middle attacks, she uses her contact point well to swing high, which had advantages for her on day one. Defensively, she reads the play well with good patience as she displayed making strong moves to defend opposing hitters, which helped set up their defense well behind her to get them into system for their big arm to go to work.     McAllister is a 5'7 libero that plays this role with good purpose in her engagement and action. Where she stood out the most was in her pursuit of the ball defensively. She has active eyes and feet to watch and react with her quickness. And, if she couldn't get to the ball with a full platform, she showed good use of emergency skills to extend her reach and attempt to make a play that not only kept the ball off the floor but also put this in a situation to do something strategic with it over the net.
