Pre-Nationals Recap: Day 2

Day 2 of Pre-Nationals brought more of what makes this event of the best stops of the club season, full of high-level competition and players stepping up when their teams need them most. Arkansas clubs continued to battle against strong fields from across the region, and several athletes stood out in multiple ways. Here are few players who stepped up to the plate.    Miller demands the front row tempo every time and does it effectively. Her high volleyball IQ, combined with athleticism and raw grit, makes her a difficult player to defend. When she's in the front row, she's a force on both sides of the ball, constantly putting pressure on opposing defenses and blockers. She has a strong left-handed swing and used it several times on second-ball attacks to catch defenses off guard and force them out of system. She pulls blockers without doing much because teams recognize the talent and shiftiness she brings to every play. Her presence alone changes how opponents defend.     Mead-Pryor is a firecracker of an athlete and brings a strong voice to her team. She dominates the right side with a powerful left-handed swing and plays with an intensity that's contagious. Her athleticism, body control, and court awareness allow her to stay available offensively, even on difficult out-of-system balls. She plays all six rotations and impacts the game everywhere she goes. Defensively, she's steady and dependable, while offensively she's just as dangerous from the back row as she is in the front. She's one of those players who constantly draws your attention because of the energy and competitiveness she brings every rally.     Fulfer has developed into a fierce athlete this year and expanded her game across the board. She took charge in middle back and consistently chased down balls to extend rallies. She has a high volleyball IQ and uses it to her advantage defensively, putting herself in great positions before the ball ever reaches her. Her tall frame gives her the ability to reach over blocks and find holes in the defense with ease. What stands out most is her consistency and calm demeanor. Whether things are going well or adversity hits, her composure never wavers. She's become a reliable six-rotation presence who impacts the game in every phase.     Hammond is wise beyond her years when it comes to volleyball knowledge and court awareness. Playing up an age group, she consistently holds her own against bigger, more physical blockers. Her confidence has continued to grow throughout the season, and so has her presence on the court. She has a fast arm swing that picks apart defenses and finds seams in blocks, allowing her to score in a variety of ways. As she continues to grow into her frame and develop physically, she's only going to become more difficult to stop. The foundation is already there, and her future is incredibly bright.
