Before we get started, I always like to remind people that rankings are constantly changing. Players improve, roles change, and new athletes continue to emerge throughout the season. Just because you don't see your name today doesn't mean I haven't heard of you or won't be watching in the future. If I haven't had the opportunity to evaluate you yet, please email me at theresa.prepdigs@gmail.com. I'm always looking for players to get on my radar and learn more about.

When it comes to outside hitters and pins, there is a lot to evaluate. Can they score in system? Can they terminate when the play breaks down? Can they handle serve receive and still be an offensive threat? Can they transition quickly and stay available throughout a rally? Those are the types of things that separate good players from players who continue to climb.

The six players below keep giving people reasons to talk about them. Some have built momentum throughout the club season, while others continue to prove why they belong in the rankings discussion. Either way, these are six OH pins that college coaches should continue to keep an eye on as this next year moves forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='747844' first='Ayva' last='Jennings'], the No. 1 outside hitter in the class of 2029, is someone who can find a way to score even when the whole gym knows where the ball is going. That's what sets the elite pins apart. Ayva doesn't need a perfect set or a perfect situation. She can end in the system, adjust when the ball is pushed off the net, and continue to put pressure on defenses throughout a match. What is remarkable is her capacity to adapt as she swings. If college coaches are looking for a hitter who can make points and not wait for them, Ayva is on the radar. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='918053' first='Katriel' last='Utecht'] is No. 2 in the Class of 2029 and watching her play, one thing is pretty clear pretty quickly: she wants the big swings. If the score is tight late in a set, Katriel isn't trying to hide. She wants the chance. She attacks confidently, stays aggressive in transition and keeps challenging blocks even when defenses know she's getting the ball. There is a competitive edge to her game that stands out. The best hitters thrive off pressure and Katriel continues to show that. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='763880' first='Sidney' last='Koester'] is a complete player at the outside hitter position. Ranked No. 3 in the Class of 2029. She's valuable because she affects rallies before she ever takes a swing. “She can do serve receive, stay in the game defensively, and then be an offensive option. Not easy to do all the time. Sidney's ability to impact all facets of the game keeps her on the floor to keep the pressure on throughout the course of a match. “Coaches are always looking for outsides that they can trust in every rotation and Sidney continues to prove that she can be that player.” ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='878270' first='Sylvia' last='Heusinkvelt'] is the type of hitter who gets tougher to deal with as a match goes on, and the Class of 2029 prospect is currently ranked No. 4 overall. Some players need a couple swings to get settled. Sylvia is ready to go from the get-go. She is available, works hard in transition, and puts pressure on opposing defenses. I like the fact that she doesn't disappear when the going gets tough. She keeps competing, keeps making quality swings and keeps making defenses earn every point. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='523205' first='Anndi' last='Frie'] is ranked No. 5 in the Class of 2029, and I couldn't leave her out of this conversation. Honestly, she plays older than her age group. The thing I notice the most is how fast she solves problems. If a block takes away one shot, she finds another. If defenders start sitting in one spot, she makes adjustments. Doesn't seem to make her much faster in the game. Every class has good hitters, but Anndi has a scorer's touch that is hard to teach. That's why she's still one of the most impressive attackers in the 2029 class. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='939046' first='Bentley' last='Krull'] is the #6 outside hitter in the Class of 2029, and what I keep coming back to is how hard she is to keep out of a match. Some players make their mark in short bursts. Bentley seems to be involved from start to finish. She receives serve, is active defensively, and keeps working herself open on the offensive side. Every rally counts to her. That motor, along with her ability to contribute all over the court, makes Bentley a player coaches should keep a close eye on. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
