Welcome the next wave of trophy hunters at [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'].

This club has collected its share of accolades at AAU Nationals. [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] always seems to bring its best to Orlando, and this success has persisted across several age groups and levels. This year's 15 Navy crew was eager to deliver on sky-high expectations.

Fittingly, we've dedicated many of our recent spotlights and Nationals previews to covering Nebraska's Class of 2029.

The Perfect Storm

River City Jrs 15 Navy's road to the title was paved in perfection.

Let's not bury the lede: 15 Navy did not drop a single set en route to AAU Nationals' 15 Elite division. We're talking about that kind of perfection.

The 15 Elite division brought nearly 100 teams into the title race, so 15 Navy would be eager to distinguish itself in a busy opening round. This was also the lone Nebraska entry in the 15 Elite field, making River City Jrs' torchbearer responsibilities even heavier. Fortunately, the team rolled to a trio of Day 1 wins in pool play.

More teams, more matches. We're normally accustomed to talking about two rounds of pool play at major qualifiers and tournaments, but River City Jrs had a three-wave gauntlet of round-robin action. Then, the team was faced with an ever-important challenge match to settle bracket seeding heading into the wave's final day.

Through it all, 15 Navy kept its unblemished set record alive. Triumphs over TW Skyline and FC Elite set up a big title tilt against FSC Elite 15 Blue, a team looking to defend home territory in Florida.

Fittingly, the championship match brought the one instance of 15 Navy needing extra points to win a set. River City won a 28-26 marathon in the opener, and that was the prelude to perfection.

Put a 13th sweep on the board.

Laying the Foundation

The 15s club season is an important development year for prep athletes, and the 15 Navy crew has accelerated that growth through postseason stardom.

If you followed last year's top-performing high school freshmen, you might recognize some of 15 Navy's go-to leaders. The lineup features a well-balanced group of ball control gems and frontcourt weapons who logged considerable experience on the 2025 prep stage.

[player_tooltip player_id='960983' first='Addi' last='Svehla'] immediately stands out in the libero jersey. She was one of four 15 Navy athletes to earn all-tournament honors, and we aren't surprised to see her emergence as a backcourt trendsetter. Svehla tallied nearly 500 digs in her debut high school season with Blair, setting the pace for all of Nebraska's 2029s. Her reign continues on the club side.

Conestoga High School standout [player_tooltip player_id='932962' first='Lorelai' last='Fader'] joined Svehla as a divisional honoree and offered her familiar left-side prowess in the 15 Navy rotation. She landed on our radar after putting up Conestoga's second-leading scoring total last year, and Fader can carry similar volume with 15 Navy.

We'll stay on the pins to check back in with one of Bellevue West's emerging underclassmen. [player_tooltip player_id='558793' first='Tressa' last='Duran'] flashed her sky-high potential on the left pin with the Thunderbirds, producing a team-high 2.5 kills per set while developing some stout wing blocking skills. However, Duran flips to the other side of the setter with 15 Navy and has commanded the opposite position in the team's biggest matches. Her physical presence changes the dynamic when she rotates in.

Duran

Speaking of physicality, 15 Navy's length advantage is rooted in the middle. Ella Wiechman hasn't entered our coverage jurisdiction yet, but that'll change when we hit the fall season. This Class of 2030 star has become an elite slide hitter in the [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] gym and makes the most of playing up a year. Wiechman's "overachievement" yielded an all-tournament selection and plenty of additions to the early highlight tape.

Haley Woody keeps the dominance going on the other side of the dial. She is a ready-made M2 who consistently shut down opposing attackers during 15 Navy's AAU stint. Quick sets in front of the setter also generated instant offense.

Let's bring those setters into the fray. Allison Baker and Greely Couch have been outstanding signal-callers for their crew, with the latter completing 15 Navy's quartet of individual honorees. Their ability to adapt to various systems and produce consistent results has been a catalyst for late-season success at [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'].

It also helps to have a wealth of first-contact contributors to lean on. 15 Navy gets a ton of passing prowess from its pin standouts, including [player_tooltip player_id='961105' first='Jolie' last='Anderson'], [player_tooltip player_id='961103' first='Lauren' last='Sledge'], Ellie Schneider, and [player_tooltip player_id='961106' first='Elaina' last='Bennett']. We've been fascinated by how much 15 Navy can vary its personnel with so many options on the roster. Schneider's steady presence on the right side has been a perfect complement to Duran's hard-hitting style on the other side of the rotation. Bennett and Anderson lock things down on the left.

We also can't forget about Ainsley Hegge's ability to sub in for any of these pins in the back row. This adaptability has landed her a reliable presence in the 15 Navy rotation, with some of those reps coming at the libero spot. Shuffle the lineup card a little more.

In the end, any lineup option produced positive results in Orlando. The numbers--and the trophy--speak for themselves.

Welcome the next wave of trophy hunters at River City Jrs .
