This may be the end of a feature series, but it's the start of a new journey.

We've made it. The Class of 2028 has arrived at that big summer threshold. College recruitment is set to begin, and the headlines will inevitably roll in.

But, through this whole flurry of activity, we can't lose sight of the big picture. My Kansas and Nebraska coverage has placed 2028s in the spotlight for the past month or so, but our discussion of this group started long before this summer. And it will continue far into the future.

That might be the opening statement for this feature finale. A prep career-or a recruiting path--is defined by much more than a single day, or a few weeks, or a few months. This group still has multiple years left on the high school scene and will have just as much time to find the right fit at the next level.

So, while this feature is meant to close out a feature series, know that this is not the end of the conversation. We will persist in our drive to highlight as many names as possible. USAV Nationals is on the way, and then we'll be knee-deep in the fall marathon. More 2028s will land on our recruiting radar.

Kansas and Nebraska will keep delivering storylines, and I feel so privileged to be along for the ride. Let's hit the road.

Summer Scouting Opportunities

There's no better time or place for 2028s to make an impression.

Rising juniors will be eager to showcase their summer growth and development to college recruiters. This is that weird spot in the yearly cycle where we've all been away from the game for a while, and 2028s likely feel keen on adding to their highlight tape.

So, bring on Nationals. We're not the only ones who will be locked into what's happening in Indianapolis, Orlando, and beyond. Recruiters are certain to use these postseason events to reframe their "big board" and bring new names to their radars.

Our 2028 coverage will roll on. Then, after the dust settles from this year's club season, we're transitioning right into our late-summer wave of showcase events. The Prep Dig Circuit continues to offer chances to stay on the court and exhibit recruitable skills at any position. I'm so excited to get back on the trail in Nebraska, Kansas, and beyond. We hope to see you there.

Beyond the Rankings

It's easy to get caught up in rankings. They generate buzz and start discussions. We're planning a new wave of Kansas rankings after Nationals, which will start that whole cycle anew.

But athletes are also more than a number. College coaches are looking to connect with prospects who fit into the broader culture and spirit of their program. They're looking for quality representatives for their university. Rankings don't reflect that.

Even as we look to a big overhaul in our database, know that a single ranking pales in comparison to your on-court achievements and potential value at the next level.

Closing Argument

Let's circle back to a few of our opening points.

If there's any takeaway to draw from this feature, it's this: your recruiting journey is your own.

The progression of being a prospect has always invited comparison. That's especially prevalent as social media feeds are flooded with players' big wins and accomplishments. We love to see the latest "scoop" as much as anyone else, but we also understand the tendency to feel behind or unseen.

Choosing a college destination is a major life decision, regardless of whether athletics are involved. It's a life step that warrants exploration and consideration without feeling rushed. Athletes will inevitably make quick, eye-catching commitment posts, but that's their journey.

Don't base your value on the number of calls, emails, and texts received in the first 24 hours. The right fit will find you, and this is just a single milestone in the quest.

And, of course, we'll still be here for the next milestones to come.

This may be the end of a feature series, but it's the start of a new journey.
