Six Girls Junior Club Championships Day One Notables

Volleyball is often a game of runs. The ones that survive the big ones from opponents come through with wins. A number of the higher seeds won their pool play games Friday in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior Club Championships at the Columbus Convention Center. These six put up nice games.    Scholten (pictured) sees the court well and makes great placement with balls with her swings. She gets up with a good vertical and deposits balls to different parts of the court. She can hit through solo blocks. Scholten also uses her size to influence balls to go high and wide with sound double blocks. Scholten is consistent with her serving. Scholten agreed a good next step is a quicker arm swing. Scholten said she tries to pick her spots and place balls there, depending on the set. Scholten she tries to better balls if the sets are off target, mixing in tips if needed.     Neese put on a nice defensive display. Neese slid for balls only out of necessity, but remained under control. Neese provides 17 Janvier good net protection. She has quick hands to perform consistent first touches and makes a number of quality out of system sets.     Bigley does a great job getting on top of balls, extending then following through for big hits. She executes a variety of ones and pin shots. Bigley angles balls off blocks and out of bounds for big points. Bigley forms sound double blocks with her size and sound vertical jump. Bigley also uses her quickness to provide good net protection.     Hausmann stayed positive on the court the entire game. Hausmann took a number of solid swings and sent across good serves. Hausmann makes sound first touches and did a number of little things to help 15 Charlsie to victory. Hausmann agreed that doing little things leads to big things for teams.     El Belle has good range and form leading to a number of nice on-target passes. She executes both the bump and overhead passes and betters balls with quality out of system passes. El Belle displayed a lot of good court leadership and showed she is coachable. She strives to improve each time she hits the court.     Thomas puts great power into balls. She produces at all six spots on the court. The lefty also hits down overpassed balls with one hand. Thomas takes quality swings from the back row, thus separating herself from a number of other hitters. Thomas is also an aggressive server.
