Summer Sparks: June’s Breakout Volleyball Finds

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Join Prep Dig using code “AVG30” for a discount on your initial membership.</strong>T</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Traveling around and watching as much volleyball as I do, I'm constantly jotting down names and notes on players in my notes app. Sometimes those players make it into an article right away, while other times their name may sit in my notes app until I find just the right article to put them in. Sometimes, I may be at a court and stumble upon a completely different team and set of players. That is the fun part of scouting as there is no exact science to it. A lot of the best finds come from coincidences and just simply being in the gym. She is fun to watch. She moves quickly, reads the game well, and is solid in serve receive. What stood out most to me was how she ran the backcourt. She knows where she's supposed to be, does a great job covering her attackers, and is always in position. She has an impressive vertical and a super fast swing that allows her to score in numerous ways. What really stands out is how quickly she moves. She is fast moving laterally at the net, quick in her transition, and her arm speed is even faster. I happen to stumble across her first in March when watching another team and had to stay in watch. I will be checking in on her again at AAU where I am sure she will be pivotal to her teams success. I got to watch her a few times during the club season and again at AAU, and she is turning into quite the libero. She's quick, steady in serve receive, and plays good defense. What impressed me the most though was her out of system setting. She has the ability to deliver good sets from well off the net and even with some tempo on the ball. When she gets a good swing, she can terminate with force. What stood out even more was that she can terminate out of system just as strongly as she can in system. She really puts some pace on the ball. While she is still young, the talent is clearly there. With some time and continued development, she has all the tools to become a really good player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["734714"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6a3b047ac7bb3"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">I recently found myself at a college camp and got the chance to watch Vaalemoen in action (honestly, you would be surprised at all the places I might show up to watch volleyball) . For about an hour, I watched her run the court along with players she had never played with before and she handled it well. She quickly found connections with her hitters and did a nice job spreading out the offense. Vaalemoen consistently delivered a clean, consistent ball which allowed her new teammates to settle in and begin terminating with ease. Not only was she able to play her position, but she was a leader on the court and made those around her better.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
