Dallas Sophomore ID Showcase Top Performers Vol 1

Prep Dig Texas Showcases are back! We had some big events that were held at the Courtside Sports Center on July 19th. The Sophomore showcase for the 2029 grad class was amazing! These events always bring together athletes from across the state looking to compete in front of college coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. There were tons of awesome players that we evaluated from their awesome production. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. Let's take a closer look at three players who earned Top Performer honors at the Dallas Sophomore showcase.    Alexis earned her Top Performer award at the Sophomore ID Showcase by doing what great liberos do at every level. She made her team better on every single contact. At 5'1", she plays a position that demands effort and her game demonstrated that clearly from the first drill segment through the final scrimmage. Her platform was consistent and repeatable, holding its shape even when serves came with pace and angle designed to test exactly that. She read the game ahead of the ball, positioning herself in serve receive before the server had made contact. She competed with the kind of intensity and pride in her craft that the libero position demands and the Sophomore ID Showcase gave scouts their first good look at a player who plays the back row with a level of focus well beyond her class year. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.     Austyn brings an unusual physical profile to the libero position and the Sophomore ID Showcase was the right environment to show what a 5'7" back row defender can do when the instincts and the mechanics match the frame. Her court coverage throughout the day was exceptional using her length to handle high-velocity attacks at a range that shorter liberos simply cannot match. She led with confidence and communicated well with every player she shared the floor with, regardless of whether she had played alongside them before. I was very impressed with both her footwork and technique in creating angles with her platform. Competing for Arete 17 Navy Telos and Prestonwood Christian Academy has put her in high-quality environments, and both of those standards showed up in how she performed at the Sophomore ID Showcase. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.     Azaria plays both middle blocker and outside hitter and what made her Top Performer performance so compelling at the Sophomore ID Showcase was that she looked capable and comfortable in both roles. Her blocking footwork has developed noticeably and the closing speed and angle she showed at the net throughout the day were qualities that court coaches mentioned consistently in their evaluations. When she stepped to the pin as an outside hitter, she attacked with timing and intention, finding angles over and around the block rather than just swinging hard and hoping. Her first-step quickness stood out regardless of which position she was playing, and that athleticism is the thread that connects both sides of her game. She competed with energy and communication across every segment of the showcase and the leadership she showed keeping her teammates connected during the scrimmage competition was a quality that registered with every evaluator on the floor.
