Freshman First Impressions: Hitter Edition

<p>Another round of shout outs for impressive athletes that made their presence known for this year's freshman class. Defense and setters have been given their recognition, now it's to acknowledge those who have the fun part of finishing the plays. Playing in Open division qualifiers this past season has no doubt impacted her game for the better. Standing at 6'1 with a strong swing from the pin turns heads, but her ability to cut her swing to hit angles and find open shots, keeps onlookers attention. Exposing a high IQ for the game, Kennedy does well reading the block and finding ways to score around it. She has the size, the smarts, and the ability to play and compete at a high level.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='939379' first='Hayven' last='Hogg'], a 6 rotation player out of Royse City showed up in Carrollton on July 19th and set the tone for all around energy. No matter the play, she is going to go all out to keep the ball in play. With a true competitor mindset, she hustles to make impossible plays, and maintains high energy throughout play. Her athleticism is on full display when she approaches and elevates above the block to take a powerful attack on the ball. Her swing is technical, strong, and scoring. Taking her talents from UEPA to TAV this season, she is ready to compete! </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Talk about a hitter that likes the line! [player_tooltip player_id='1003432' first='Ellison' last='Hunt'], freshman hitter attending Colleyville Heritage, came in determined to light up the line. She may not be the biggest pin hitter, standing at 5'7 from the outside, but her consistency keeps her on the court. Her efforts on the court have shown that she will do whatever it takes to get around a block and score with a line shot. She does well taking her time and making adjustments to the set before she explodes into her approach and swing. Elli is a player who knows what works for her and is working to perfect her signature shot. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1005154' first='Chloe' last='Craig'], showed up with full athleticism on display at the Dallas Freshman Showcase. Chloe brings an explosive approach to the game, showing off her hang time as she jumps out the gym before delivering a textbook fundamental swing. Disciplined training shines through her play as she transitions and reads plays with ease. Also on display, is her high game IQ, making the necessary adjustments to be successful point after point. From Melissa, Texas, and ready to show out for another club season with [program_tooltip program_id='431057' first='Arete' last='Athletics'].</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='878451' first='Sophia' last='Chesney'], came in ready to get to work. Finishing up club season with a trip to usav nationals with [program_tooltip program_id='431200' first='Madfrog' last=''], she is taking her skills to Plano Sr. this school year. On display last weekend was her ability to command the court. Communicating well with those alongside her on the court, Sophia emphasizes the importance of teamwork when she plays. When it comes to game play, she runs a fast tempo game and approaches hard to every ball she is given. Driving to swing big and score consistently, there is no hesitation in her ability to put the ball down! </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1006681' first='LaRee' last='Lewis'], pin hitter for NRG in the '25-26 club season, and taking her game to Lake Ridge High School, she is prepared and ready to take on the next level of competition. She is fast, explosive, and reactive to every play. Making herself an available scoring option by consistently transitioning and communicating with her setters, LaRee makes it clear she is always ready for the ball. From the Right Side she does not hesitate to deliver a surprise kill when the set is reversed, making her a threat at any time. Tricky and speedy? Sounds like a player to keep an eye on.</p>
