TAV 17 Black Jon played a hard game against SC Rockstar LOVB 17-Angel. Struggling at the start for our TAV girls, dropping the first set 14-25 and then bouncing back to take the match in back to back sets 25-22, 15-11. Battling out of tough serve receive and great defensive efforts by SC Rockstar, TAV got the job done and brought home the gold.
[player_tooltip player_id='518965' first='Sophee' last='Peterson'], this season's setter to see gave it her all in this afternoon's championship match. Bringing her team out of a tough series of serve receive early in the match with a tricky setter dump to get a point on the board, she pulled out all stops to find a rhythm for her team and was successful in doing so. Working out the kinks for her offense, Sophee pushed her hitters into a quick tempo game, made the defensive efforts, even put up some blocks! She distributed the ball well all over the court, utilizing each of her teammates and ensured that her offense would work one step ahead of the competition.

[player_tooltip player_id='828292' first='Nyla' last='Livings'], did not let up at the net in this championship game. Across the net her opponents were firing on all cylinders and Nyla was battling to protect her defense. Working to close blocks and change the momentum, she made the stops that were detrimental to her team's come back in set 2. On the offensive end she took advantage of spacing, when her setter was front row, moving the block and finding different angles. Defensively she was patient in reading the set and explosive to react and press across the net to secure blocks. Big efforts from a big middle to solidify the ultimate win.

[player_tooltip player_id='534308' first='Lexi' last='Martin'], worked hard to carry her team offensively in the first set. Taking a lot of sets from the outside and swinging away in hopes for the cross court kill. Never taking a bail out, Lexi continued to swing and find ways to disrupt the defense across the net. Her effort and energy helped light a fire behind her team as TAV hitters began swinging away in the same manner. Fighting hard for every kill, Lexi showed she will not stop swinging until the whistle blows.

[player_tooltip player_id='534299' first='Brynn' last='Stephens'], an expected 6 rotation star to see in the championship this week, battled in the back row for the majority of the first set. Fighting to keep plays alive and showing off her ability to do more than swing. Taking her job seriously from the serving line, Brynn worked to give SC a fight in serve receive. By set 2 she meant business, turning up the heat with back row attacks and hard swings from the outside pin to every corner. In classic Brynn fashion, she made it clear why she is a highly ranked player.

Defense is no small feat, especially in a championship match. [player_tooltip player_id='807951' first='Vanessa' last='Glenn'] understood the assignment this afternoon. Protecting the 'weak side' corner, she was not letting anything past her without an all out effort. Doing the little things, covering her hitters, staying wide in her read and reacting with no hesitation, Vanessa fought to keep plays alive long enough for her hitters to put the ball down. Also, doing her job from the serving line and securing points a ta team when her team needed them most. They say defense wins championships, and Vanessa played with only winning on her mind.

[player_tooltip player_id='809408' first='Ansley' last='Shafer'], a Ds/L that has been carrying TAV's defense this season showed exactly why she has the libero jersey. A hard fight out of the first set kept her moving and pushing towards every ball. She saw a lot of tough serves and never wavered from her fundamental passing. She worked to cover her hitters, communicate with her team throughout play, and kept high energy in all three sets. Ansley took on the job of commanding the back row and carried it out until the last point.
