AAU National Qualifier - Orlando, Fl

Momentum rarely remains with one team for long at AAU Nationals. A single rally, aggressive serving run or energetic response can quickly change the atmosphere on a court. These five players repeatedly gave their teams the spark needed to regain control or turn a close match in their favor.

Naya played with controlled aggression and trusted herself when opportunities arrived. She continued applying pressure rather than becoming cautious when her team needed to regain command. Naya approached each point as though it could become the beginning of an important run. That mentality gave her team an edge and helped turn isolated successes into meaningful momentum. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Danielle found ways to remain productive during unsettled and imperfect rallies. Instead of treating a broken play as an automatic loss, she adjusted, stayed available and continued searching for a solution. Her effort gave her team opportunities to recover and occasionally turn difficult situations into points. Those sequences provided an emotional lift and made Danielle an important presence when matches began moving in the wrong direction. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Beren competed with noticeable purpose and did not allow the significance of a moment to make her passive. She combined confidence with enough patience to avoid becoming reckless. Beren understood that changing a match sometimes required applying steady pressure until an opponent became uncomfortable. That balance allowed her to influence momentum while keeping her team connected to its system. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Sohana affected the emotional temperature of matches through her communication, energy and willingness to stay engaged. She did not contribute only when her team was already playing well but remained active during stretches when they were trying to recover. Sohana consistently searched for the play that could interrupt an opponent's run. Her response after positive points helped her teammates attack the following rally with greater confidence. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Momentum-changing players are not always responsible for the final point of a run. They may create the first opening, extend the rally that energizes the bench or respond immediately after an opponent takes control. Addison, Sohana, Naya, Danielle and Beren repeatedly provided those valuable moments at AAU Nationals.
