<p>The Beast of the Northeast is back. This event originated in 2023 and is 32 teams strong with 30 of them coming from all across Wisconsin and two from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Here are some athletes to know as they take on the Beast at the Champion Center in Appleton. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='435884' first='Bridget' last='Frye'] of Mosinee has been a mainstay the past few years for the Indians where she is on track to surpass 1,000 kills this season. In their season opener she averaged over three kills per set where they rolled to a 4-0 start. She is also a proven defender where she has averaged 3.5 digs per set as well. Mosinee is the top seed and will be one to watch not only this weekend, but among the entire D2 field this season. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='724577' first='Abby' last='Cera'] has had a fast start for Marshfield where they went 3-1 in their opening quad with wins over Chippewa Falls, Superior, and Eau Claire North. Cera led the team in kills averaging 2.6 per set. Another attacker to watch will be Lily Adler who is able to put points on the board. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">The senior setter from Stevens Point is already off to a big start where she collected 92 assists on the day at their home opener on Tuesday. They went undefeated, taking down De Pere in the championship. The Panthers are going to be a tough matchup with senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='500399' first='Lenna' last='Mayer'] and on the outside they will look to feed [player_tooltip player_id='522106' first='Nora' last='Kruger'] who has plenty of experience and a high IQ in where to get the defense out of position. </p>

The senior has given her verbal to play at UW-River Falls next year. She already has over 2200 assists in her career and could even surpass 3000. Falls has had the same core of athletes playing together the past couple seasons where Otto will look for her senior counterpart in Loyola Chicago commit [player_tooltip player_id='435897' first='Lucy' last='Ripley']. </p>

[player_tooltip player_id='522538' first='Mylee' last='Kreider'] will be entering her senior year as an attacker that other teams need to know about. She's played her club ball at [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] and has her sister McKynzee Kreider on the team as well. They are one of the top teams in the UP and will be ready to take on some of the top teams in Wisconsin. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">West De Pere made quite the impact in the Fox River Conference their first year and among D1 squads in Northeast Wisconsin advancing to the sectional final before falling to Kimberly. She was named to the all conference team in 2025 and was on the Badger Region All Start team this past summer. She has a blend of athleticism, physicality, and a nose to stop the opposing attackers. </p>

The junior has quite the all around skillset where she led the Clippers in kills, digs, and aces. She also has the ability to set as well if needed. This could be a dangerous team where they return some youth who have earned some experience the past year and are ready to take the next step. </p>

She recently committed to Concordia-Wisconsin and has a solid skill set as a setter and defender. She plays with a mature IQ and has great poise commanding the court. The Indians have some really solid ball control coming back and if their attackers get going they will be tough to stop. </p>

One attacker to notice for the Polar Bears will be [player_tooltip player_id='522562' first='Gracelynn' last='Hoel']. She is coming off a big summer where she was named MVP at AAU Nationals for her [program_tooltip program_id='428659' first='Wisconsin' last='Blaze'] 16 Black team. She has length and athleticism with a fast arm that allows her to spread the ball around the court and put points on the board. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Fox Valley Lutheran already has gotten off to a fast start this season where they won the Battle of the Valley Tournament against some high level teams on Tuesday. Thats a statement maker. Their top attacker to watch will be senior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='807830' first='Alaina' last='Patchett']. She has a lot of length with a high contact point and a mature IQ that allows her to see the court and knows what will score. She is someone that is involved in plenty of positive touches that will be key for the Foxes this upcoming weekend. </p>

She has a knock for the ball and knows how to close the seam and do it with authority. She is also someone who is quick to the ball as an attacker where she knows how to utilize all of her shots from a tip, a swing, or something deep to the corner. </p>

The UW-Superior commit comes from a long line of volleyball in her family with older sisters being a successful part of Springs. Coon swarms the court, she covers everything and also isn't afraid to be on the offense with her second touch. She has a mature IQ and will be one who can get the Ledgers in system. </p>

A name to know is sophomore Brinley Schween who was second on the team in kills from 2025. She has plenty of length where she can hit over the block, take it line, cross, or drop in an offspeed shot. This team will be one to watch out of the Madison area all season. Keep tabs on senior [player_tooltip player_id='553214' first='Haylin' last='Arnold'] who had nearly 400 kills as a junior. The combo of Schwenn and Arnold will be tough to slow down. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Freedom will be playing host to the Beast of the Northeast and will be ones to watch all weekend. They had some key players who were freshman and sophomores in 2025, but with a year of experience under their belt they are ready for a breakout season. One of those athletes would be attacker [player_tooltip player_id='522400' first='Norah' last='Van Camp']. She had a big opening day Tuesday when Freedom went to the Neenah Quad. She picked up 17 total kills, averaging just over two per set. </p>

She has a lot of length of out of the middle with a quick leaping ability to take the ball left or right. Her block is going to make opposing attackers think twice about going for the split. Bay Port has some key pieces from their 2025 season where they were the FRCC champions. </p>
