Carlisle County at Marshall County Takeaways
In this article:
The Marshall County Marshals are aware a faster pace is needed to turn into a true region contender.
The Marshals have been on their way toward that under Paige Fletcher, a former University of Missouri outside hitter. Marshall County has some players that have developed some of those habits during club season and it has shown early on in the 3-0 start. The Marshals downed the visiting Carlisle County Comets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-19) on Tuesday in 1st Region action.

also made some nice saves. Marshall County's serving kept the Comets out of rhythm a good bit.
"The girls are getting more comfortable so we're running a faster tempo," Fletcher said. "We're really focusing on serve receive and the fundamentals and everything including all around. We focus a lot on the first touches on serve receive and defense because if we don't have those first touches, we can't run our offense. We have a a really strong offense so we keep it spread out and give them opportunities to score."

Highlights
Redden makes a lot of things happen on ones and gap shots. She mixes up her shots well and does a nice job attacking holes in double blocks and seams with precision. Redden has a nice vertical allowing her to hit over and around blocks. Redden also made her fair share of nice first contacts to make sure Marshall County got into a good rhythm. Redden credits Fletcher for teaching her and her teammates so many things that it's helped them run those faster plays.
Highlights
Reynolds has a great connection with the hitters and it has shown in these first three games. Reynolds has good touches and puts balls on targets to the hitters can terminate balls. She's developed a good rhythm not locking her arms. Reynolds makes good decisions and involves a number of hitters so opponents can't key on one hitter. Reynolds also makes the simple passes on defense.
Highlights
Yates brought a lot of varsity experience into the season and has used it to turn into a reliable hitter for the Marshals. Yates steps forward with a strong attack approach, extension and finish to put balls down for big points for Marshall County. Yates made a number of sound passes. She is trying to expand her game to hitting from the back row. She did not connect on any pipe plays in the game, but she'll take her game to a whole new level once she starts connecting on them consistently. Yates said everyone works well together, thus the Marshals are able to put pressure on defenses in different ways.
