These pins came ready to swing at the Freshman Showcase. They attacked with confidence, challenged the block, and found ways to score when the set wasn't perfect. There were some heavy arms in this group, along with hitters already starting to see the court and change what they were doing instead of taking the same swing every time.

The effort away from the ball caught my attention too. They worked in transition, covered, and stayed in rallies. Getting blocked didn't stop them from coming back for another swing.

There is some excellent volleyball ahead for this group. I'm ready to see who carries what we saw at the showcase into the high school season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1003407' first='Delaney' last='Vos'] came in swinging to score. She has a heavy arm from the pin and wasn't afraid to challenge the block when it was formed in front of her. Give her a ball in her window and she can put some serious pace behind it. What I kept seeing was the same aggressive approach, rep after rep. Vos wants the swing, and she isn't backing off when the block is waiting. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1001963' first='Lillian' last='Cragoe'] handled the less-than-perfect balls really well. She worked off the net, got back into transition, and still found a swing when the set pulled her out of rhythm. Instead of forcing something that wasn't there, she adjusted her approach and worked with the ball she got. That's a pin you can use when you're out of system and just need someone to make a good play. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

I liked [player_tooltip player_id='999773' first='Brittyn' last='Crotty']'s response when things didn't go her way. If you get blocked, come back and ask for it again. Miss a swing, reset, and go after the next one. There wasn't much hesitation in her game. She got off the floor well and brought a quick arm when she was in rhythm. Crotty competed, and you could see that edge more as the reps went on. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='942448' first='Camille' last='Julien'] saw the court. She wasn't trying to beat every block by swinging harder. She found an open floor, changed where she attacked, and took what the defense gave her. That made her fun to watch because there was some thought behind the swing. Julien already showed she can make the defense move instead of constantly trying to hit through it. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='913752' first='Giana' last='Oertwich'] worked. That's probably the easiest way to describe her showing. She got off the net in transition, covered, chased balls, and communicated through the rally. None of it stopped because she wasn't getting the set. When the ball did come her way, she was already in the play instead of trying to catch up to it. Coaches notice players who work like that. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
