Serving can be such a difference-maker, especially when a player can consistently make things uncomfortable on the other side of the net. It doesn't always have to end in an ace, either. Some of the toughest servers are the ones who can pick apart serve receive, find the open spots, and keep teams from getting into their offense. Here are a few servers I've seen who can do just that.

[player_tooltip player_id='830658' first='Brynn' last='Hennen'] immediately caught my attention from the service line. She can put together a solid serving stretch and make serve and receive work for the first contact. Brynn doesn't have to rely on an ace to have an impact either. When that first pass gets pulled away from the setter, she has already done her job and given her team an advantage to start the rally. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

One thing [player_tooltip player_id='1022718' first='Lilly' last='Talarico'] does really well is use the court when she serves. She can find different areas and make passers move instead of allowing them to get comfortable in one spot. Lilly can create problems by putting the ball where serve receive has to communicate and decide, and that can be enough to throw off the start of an offense. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='396879' first='Payten' last='Diekmann'] isn't going back to the line just hoping to put the ball in play. She serves with some aggressiveness and isn't afraid to challenge the players across from her. Payten can string points together when she gets going, and that is where her serving can really make a difference. One tough serve can quickly turn into two or three, putting pressure right back on the other side. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

When [player_tooltip player_id='394398' first='Reagan' last='Rodberg'] gets the ball in her hands to serve, she can make the first contact difficult. Reagan does a nice job of making serve receive work rather than giving them an easy ball to start their offense. She doesn't necessarily need to overpower a passer to be effective, and that is part of what makes her interesting to watch from behind the line. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1022719' first='Josie' last='Schenck'] can hurt you on a serving streak. Once she's behind the line, she can keep the pressure on and give her team a chance to build some momentum. Josie can generate a less-than-perfect first ball, giving her defense the opportunity to get set and her team a much better chance to control the follow-up. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1022720' first='Isabella' last='Jauhola'] brings an aggressive approach to the service line. Isabella isn't afraid to go after the serve and receive, making the passer earn the first contact. What stands out is that she serves with a purpose rather than simply sending the ball across the net. That kind of approach can make her a tough server to settle in against. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
