It is reading the play before it develops, owning first contact, covering the court, and bringing a steady presence to the back row. Within South Dakota's 2030 class, several young defenders are already showing those qualities at a high level. There is plenty of development ahead, but the instincts, movement, ball control, and competitiveness are showing early. These are the liberos from our 2030 Watch List that have caught our attention and are worth getting on the recruiting radar now.

[player_tooltip player_id='788078' first='Addison' last='Basche'] brings a high level of control to the back row. She reads the game early, gets behind the ball, and consistently delivers clean first contact. Basche can handle pace, cover ground, and stay composed when rallies get chaotic. She plays with the confidence and command you don't always see this early, and that separates her within the 2030 class. The ball control and defensive presence are already there, making Basche a name college coaches should know early. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='738151' first='Flynn' last='Peterson']'s athleticism jumps out in the back row. She covers a ton of court, gets to balls outside of her space, and has the quickness to turn what looks like a point into another opportunity for her team. There is no hesitation in her defensive game. Peterson reads, reacts, and goes. Her range and pursuit allow her to impact rallies at a level beyond what you typically see from players this young, putting Peterson firmly on the early recruiting radar. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='946359' first='Mazie' last='Petrik'] plays with an advanced feel for the back row. Her reads put her in position early; she stays balanced when the ball comes with pace, and her first contact has purpose. Petrik understands how to control a ball rather than simply keep it off the floor, and that distinction matters. There is a calmness to her game even when the rally isn't clean. Her instincts and ball control separate her in this class and give college coaches plenty of reason to start following her now. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='897301' first='Tenley' last='Throener'] is an explosive defender who can change a rally with her range. She is quick across the floor, aggressive pursuing balls, and willing to extend well beyond her defensive space to make a play. Throener competes for everything, and that relentless mentality shows up possession after possession. She has the athleticism to make difficult defensive plays and the speed to cover a large piece of the backcourt. Throener is playing at a high level early and is a 2030 libero college programs should be tracking. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1004035' first='Khloe' last='Willits'] commands attention in the back row with the confidence and presence she brings to the position. She reads attackers, moves early and can take pace while keeping her platform controlled. Willits isn't simply trying to touch the ball; she is looking to turn defense into a playable second contact and keep her team in system. Her movement, instincts and ability to control first contact put her ahead of the curve for her class. Willits has the early look of a high-level libero prospect and belongs on college recruiting radars. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Thank you to all my readers for making this journey possible.
