Battlers in Williamson County Tournament Championship Bracket

The defending AAA state champion Summit Spartans and last year's AA state champion Valor Prep ended up meeting in the championship game with Valor winning 2-0 (25-8, 25-23) to finish 7-1 in the tournament with the lone loss coming Friday to Father Ryan in Power Pool Play. Valor Prep avenged that loss with a 2-0 (25-20, 25-21) victory in the semifinals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Summit finished 5-3 in the tournament. The Spartans beat Ryle from northern Kentucky, Arlington and Bowling Green to drive to the championship game. They lost to Valor and Upperman in pool play Saturday morning after knocking off Ryle and Goodpasture on Friday in Power Pool Play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Eagleville finished 5-1 in the tournament winning all four pool play games then besting Clarksville in the first round of the championship bracket. The Eagles then lost to Valor Prep in the next round after Valor Prep beat Page in the first round of the championship bracket. Ayala has an outstanding attack approach, extension and finish to terminate balls for Valor Prep. Ayala recovers quickly after being blocked to dig up balls and keep plays alive. She is not afraid to tip over double blocks. Stewart handles roll shots well and is not afraid to dive to make one-armed saves, under control. Stewart is a great communicator and aggressive server. Stewart does not hide behind blocks. She comes in hard on ones and puts balls to different zones on the court. Spelta even powers balls through blocks for big points. Spelta also teams up with teammates to form sound double blocks. Rowland has a number of big swings in the crucial win over county rival Liberty Creek. She does not hesitate to take big swings from the back row and dives hard after balls under control. Campbell executes a variety of sets including long, back sets and pipes. Campbell makes a number of quality out of system sets. Campbell hustles hard after balls defensively and forms strong double blocks with teammates.
