Players develop, confidence grows, and sometimes you go back to watch a player and see an entirely different game than you saw before.

That is precisely what happened with this group of 2028 setters. Each has made noticeable strides in her game and earned her way into the North Dakota rankings for the first time. Whether it is cleaner location, better decision-making, confidence running an offense, or simply taking more control on the court, they've grown.

For college coaches following the 2028 class, these are setters worth another look. They didn't land on this list by accident. Their game has moved forward, and we've taken notice.

[player_tooltip player_id='1040699' first='Norah' last='Strand'] has already reached 1,000 career assists, and we're just getting started in her junior season. That's a lot of volleyball already running an offense, and the experience shows. Strand has developed a steadiness at the position and continues to produce. Now watch her build on it. Holding the block longer and disguising where she's going could make an already productive setter even tougher to defend. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

There's a different confidence starting to show in [player_tooltip player_id='943726' first='Lydia' last='Tooke']. She's becoming more comfortable taking control of the second ball and trusting what she sees in front of her. That's what caught my attention with Tooke. Keep an eye on her when the pass pulls her away from the net. Those are the plays where we can really see how far Lydia has come and what she can still add. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

The ball [player_tooltip player_id='1014868' first='Taylor' last='Mauch'] is putting in her hitters' hands and has caught my attention. Her location is becoming more consistent, and she's giving attackers opportunities to stay aggressive instead of having to adjust to keep the ball in play. With Mauch, I'm watching that connection with her hitters. If she keeps delivering that same quality of ball from different areas of the court, there is a lot to like. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1040747' first='Reegan' last='Watson'] is starting to do more than deliver the second ball. Her decisions have more purpose, and that's where her development has become interesting. Watch who Watson finds and when she goes there. She's beginning to show more understanding of how to use the options around her, and that decision-making will be something to follow as the season moves along. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1041250' first='Kealyn' last='Fraser'] works to the ball. When the first contact isn't perfect, she competes to get there and keep her team in offense. I've liked seeing that effort become a bigger part of her game. Now watch what Fraser does once she gets there. The more quality balls she can create from tough situations, the more valuable that movement becomes. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

There's more confidence in her [player_tooltip player_id='1040748' first='Alia' last='Johnson'] right now, and it's showing in the way she handles the offense. She's becoming more comfortable taking ownership of the second ball and making the decision. I'm interested in how Johnson continues using the entire net. As she becomes more comfortable changing where the attack is coming from, she'll give opposing blocks more to think about. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1041247' first='Summer' last='Pearson'] has made noticeable progress in how she handles the setter position. I like the patience we're starting to see with her second contact. She's not trying to force something that isn't there. Now I'm watching what Pearson can create on her own. Finding ways to put hitters in better situations instead of simply taking what the play gives her could be an important next step. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1040750' first='Cambria' last='Ressler'] has made strides in how she runs an offense, and she's become a setter I want to keep watching. There's more confidence in what she's doing with the ball and more opportunity for her to make things difficult on the other side. Tempo and deception are two areas I'll be watching with Ressler. If she can make the block wait on her just a little longer, things can open quickly for the hitters around her. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1041243' first='Codi' last='Nelson'] has looked more comfortable taking on the setter role, and those repetitions are starting to matter. There's less hesitation with the second ball and more confidence in simply making the decision and going with it. That's what I'll be watching with Nelson throughout the season. The more comfortable she becomes running the court, the better we'll see where her game can go. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Thank you to all my readers for making this journey possible.
