East Highlights at East Vs. West

West tournament has become a must play. This tournament not only puts the best against each other, but puts the best alongside each other. Not only will you compete with your squad, but alongside others to determine 'which side is best', east or west? </p>   <p>In this year's edition, yet again, the East side prevailed victorious with a 13-10 record over the west side. But don't get it twisted, the West is still very much a strong presence with all teams presenting strong showings despite missing some of its best. For the east, the very best were on tap, it would be a tough hill to climb, regardless.</p>   <p>The East side reigned victorious once again with a star studded cast of teams and players. Nearly double the amount of teams, mean double the amount of highlights to cover. Take a look at the 18 highlight players from this weekend's East Vs. West Showdown.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='958515' first='Molly' last='Hickey'] & [player_tooltip player_id='922119' first='Reese' last='Berryman'] - Marian</h2>   <p>It's quite a sight to see when a freshman steps into any starting role on a varsity program. But when its the setter position, that's quite the ask. Not only does Marian have one starting freshman setter, but they have TWO. Both [player_tooltip player_id='958515' first='Molly' last='Hickey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='922119' first='Reese' last='Berryman'] have been running the offense for the No. 2 Ranked Marian Mustangs and have become quite the tandem. The two combined for a very efficient weekend. Behind these two rookies, Marian managed to be one of the few teams to go unblemished at East Vs. West.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson'] - Marian</h2>   <p>When in doubt, throw it up to the heavy hammer of [player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson']. This recently Virginia Tech Committed outside has been quite the force to be reckoned with for the Mustangs this season. And this weekend was another clear example of Nelson cementing herself as one of the best in the state. Whether she is in system, out of system, at the net or through the back row, Nelson is an electric point scorer for the Mustangs and has really elevated her play.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='442985' first='Josie' last='Seets'] - Clarkston</h2>   <p>From one outside to the next, it is quite impressive to see [player_tooltip player_id='442985' first='Josie' last='Seets'] mold into a go-to player for Clarkston and take on the amount of swings she does. This was an imrpessive showcase for Seets and Clarkston as they took on a gauntlet and walked out unbeaten. Seets was a big reason for this as the team's outlet scorer.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='757121' first='Stella' last='Smith'] - Clarkston</h2>   <p>While Seets can take care of the points, [player_tooltip player_id='757121' first='Stella' last='Smith'] is saving them in the back row. In her second year in the libero jersey for Clarkston, Smith is continuing her ascent as one of the best to don the jersey. Smith's first contact is always superb, but her defense and pursuit this weekend were jaw dropping to say the least. If it weren't for her relentlessness, Clarkston may not a 5-0 team at EVW.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='888944' first='Stella' last='Whirley'] - Salem</h2>   <p>Salem is very much one of those dark horse teams on the east side of the state and a lot of it stems from its setter, [player_tooltip player_id='888944' first='Stella' last='Whirley']. Whirley is entering her second season running the offense for Salem but is really finding her stride as a Sophomore. With a lot more confidence and hitters at her disposal, she was able to run a balanced offense and put up a strong fight against a tough field of competition.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='526729' first='Elizabeth' last='Nordstrom'] - Salem</h2>   <p>Throw her in the middle, out on the pins or throughout the entire six rotations, [player_tooltip player_id='526729' first='Elizabeth' last='Nordstrom'] is delivering for Salem. This is one of Whirley's favorite tricks to pull on her opponents as Nordstrom is so reliable and so versatile on the court. While we're accustomed to Nordstrom in the middle, we're seeing a lot out of her on the pins and in the back court. Both of which she is a go-to option in transition and side out opportunities.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='579822' first='Addison' last='Dresch'] - Dexter</h2>   <p>Dexter is on the rise and its surrounding the play at the setting position with [player_tooltip player_id='579822' first='Addison' last='Dresch']. While Dexter came out of the weekend without a win, there was a lot of great moments from Dresch and the Dreadnoughts. As a junior, Dresch is running this offense like a seasoned veteran and is able to create a well-rounded attack line to go toe-to-toe with some of the best in the position.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Navaeh Streich - Dexter</h2>   <p>One of the main power hitters from Dexter is out on the left side with Navaeh Streich. Streich, at 5'9, is an undersized attacker that can really terrorize a block with her shot selection. She has a heavy arm to go with herr finesse and she's able to attack from anywhere on the court. Streich was heavily contested at East Vs.
