The Texas high school volleyball season continues to progress at full pace, and while most of the eyes are turned to the teams competing in the public tournament organized by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), there's a ton of talent spread among the many programs linked with private schools in the Lone Star State as well.

A couple of weeks ago, Prep Dig Texas got to witness it firsthand as we attended the Houston Open 2026, a traditional tournament held at the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] facility that reunites most of the top private high school programs from the region for two days of action.

Houston Open 2026 - Photos

https://www.instagram.com/p/DcUv-Z_juZB/?img_index=1

We recognized talent in many of the participating teams and will this week feature the players who delivered strong performances at the event. The junior managed to remain productive offensively by making great use of her long arms to overcome opponents and put the ball down. Scheyer also demonstrated great vision up at the net when opposing middles went up with her, hitting sharp angles while not losing power. Her game was also a factor defensively, as she moved very well at the net, got many stuffs at the pins and was always read to deal with overpasses and oversets.

Wilson was part of the John Cooper team that kept its record clean in the event with five victories. Tall and physical, the sophomore had no trouble overpowering opponents at the net to score points with strong swings, but also showed remarkable awareness and great resources to capitalize on tips when sets weren't the best. Wilson also provided significant defensive contributions, moving smoothly at the net and getting many touches with her big block. The middle did well from the service line, too, serving aggressively and keeping opponents under pressure.

Boyt and her Legacy Prep Christian Academy side had three wins and two losses in their record. Equipped with long arms, she was very difficult to stop at the net, hitting a very quick set in the middle that helped her keep opposing blockers out of her way. The junior also had a strong blocking presence, moving well at the net and playing aggressively to take up space from opposing hitters with her long arms. Boyt did well with her serves, too, directing them efficiently to create problems for opponents.

Stewart was part of the Kinkaid team that ended the tournament with two wins and three losses. One of the tallest players in the entire event, the junior provided them with a strong presence at the net and made an impact on both sides of the ball. Stewart's blocking was very effective, as she showed great mobility to get to the pins and made it difficult for opposing hitters to avoid her. The middle also made great use of her length offensively, benefiting from her high contact point and reach to overcome blockers and put the ball down with powerful swings.

Bocock represented the Incarnate Word Academy team that earned a win and four losses over the two days of action. The senior was slotted as a middle in her team's rotation, but wore every possible hat for them, making an impact in many different areas of the game. Bocock was Incarnate Word's go-to scorer and showed nice versatility, hitting quicker sets in the middle and higher ones at the pin. She remained on the court when on the back row and had a big role in the team's passing efforts, while also getting several touches when playing defense.

The Texas high school volleyball season continues to progress at full pace, and while most of the eyes are turned to the teams competing in the public tournament organized by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), there's a ton of talent spread among the many programs linked with private schools in the Lone Star State as well.
