Bring on the next first-year superstars.

This fall's high school season is our big introduction to Nebraska's Class of 2030. Starting at the varsity level is a rare feat among freshmen, but every campaign gives us a handful of athletes who readily defy trends. We've already covered a select few 2030s through the last week of in-season coverage, but the list of spotlight-worthy players keeps growing.

So, another full-fledged freshman feature is warranted.

No surprises here. We're learning a lot of new names in the Class of 2030, but Cattau is already a very familiar trendsetter in this group. She's a multi-event standout on the Prep Dig Circuit who most recently earned all-showcase honors at our Nebraska Stock Up event. That summer outing was the prelude to Cattau's meteoric start with Shelby-Rising City, highlighted by 11-kill performances in a pair of two-set wins on opening day. Expect this explosive pin hitter to log many more terminations in the coming weeks.

The Meyers name already looms large in Superior lore, so let's add another iteration. This physical freshman boasts one of the most eye-popping single-match performances we've seen from any player so far this fall. Meyers's 27 kills lifted the Wildcats to a 3-1 triumph over Fillmore Central, putting the team's first 'W' on the 2026 tally. We're eager to watch Meyers ascend with her South Central NE club crew, but this debut season with Superior could spur some headlines before then.

We're going way out west. Hyannis boasts a freshman outside hitter whose skills extend beyond the scoring column. Rice led the Longhorns with three kills per set through Hyannis' first three matches, but we're drawn to far more than this go-to firepower. We've also seen Rice take a leading role as a defender, amassing libero-like numbers through early-season play. Rice rounds this out with a tough standing float serve to keep opposing teams off balance. She's already primed to do it all.

Lutheran High Northeast has seen its share of exceptional seasons on the small-town scene, and the Eagles might be prepping for another one. Kratochvil is the rare underclassman in a lineup stacked with veterans, making her emergence even more impressive. This right-side attacker was at her best while LHNE slugged out 2-1 wins over Clarkson and Utica Centennial. She averaged nearly three kills per set during this span and was a steady force through her wing blocking. A challenging stretch of contests will leave Kratochvil battle-tested for the midseason grind.

Stanton High remains in the spotlight, building upon four consecutive winning seasons on Nebraska's prep circuit. Siebrandt could guide the Mustangs to No. 5. This freshman has been an ever-present part of Stanton's dynamic lineup, adapting to a one- or two-setter offense. She leads Stanton's assist category, but Siebrandt can also shift into a setter-opposite role if needed. Her quick right arm is well-suited to the opposite position, though we might see more of Siebrandt's 5-1 signal-calling throughout 2026.

Even defending state champs can leverage first-year talent. Gowery has helped dish out a Wynot offense that features many of the same stars from last year's Class D2 championship crew. This freshman has quickly established iron-clad connections with her hitters, producing nearly seven assists per set in Wynot's first two matches. She has a perfect feel for the Blue Devils' unique operation that allows many of its terminators to tee off in the middle. Of course, we can also expect Gowery to spread it around from pin to pin during Wynot's repeat title pursuit.

Setters are making an early case to command a large portion of our Class of 2030 watch list. Uldrich adds to the wave of freshman distributors after compiling quality reps with Hartington-Newcastle. She has been a key cog in the Wildcats' two-setter system, where Uldrich can display a lot more than her consistency on the second contacts. Long rallies have been a staple of Hartington-Newcastle's early matches, and Uldrich kept those marathons alive with her defensive instincts in the right-back area.

It's been a while since we've checked in on the Whippets, which are not far removed from their reign atop the Class C1 landscape. Carey is not the only underclassman making early noise with Minden, so keep this team on your radar for later. This explosive pin hitter boasts a confident, snappy approach that works wonders on out-of-system balls. She has overpowered opposing blocks and has a knack for tooling off hands--a true staple of Minden's frontcourt strategy.

Bring on the next first-year superstars.
