Subscribe to see the setters and middles building chemistry that shows up on the scoreboard.

Every offense runs through the relationship between a setter and her middles. It's built on trust, tempo, and a shared understanding of what each hitter needs to be successful. These players represent both sides of that connection, and each one brings a distinct piece to how a fast, cohesive attack comes together.

Avery Bartelink plays with the mindset of someone who wants the ball in her hands when it matters. As a setter and pin player, she brings aggression to every rotation and looks for chances to attack against opposing front rows rather than shy away from them. Her creativity as a setter stands out, whether that's placing a ball to the antenna to catch a defense off guard or quickly dumping it into open space to keep opponents guessing. She leads by example, and she holds herself accountable for her own mistakes without letting a teammate take the blame, which has built real trust within her team. Since last season, she has sharpened her jump setting and become more dangerous as a front row attacker, small adjustments that have made a real difference. Avery has already heard from D1 programs and is driving her own recruiting process, reaching out directly to schools and building her film and social presence to match her game.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Jada Dunham plays bigger than her size suggests. She compensates with aggression, discipline, and relentless attention to the ball, tracking every swing to complete the block rather than settling for a partial read. She brings vocal energy to her team, staying encouraging and always a step ahead, anticipating the next play before it happens. Since last season, she has worked specifically on her block timing and leg strength to increase her vertical, addressing the exact tools a middle needs to compete against bigger blockers. Jada has already put in real effort building her presence, starting a YouTube channel and attending multiple college camps and showcases over the summer, and that work led to a response from a coach connected to an HBCU showcase. She is building a recruiting profile with intention, not waiting for opportunities to find her.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Lanuola Tupou has grown significantly over the past year, and much of that growth has come from how she thinks about the game. She has learned that volleyball is as much mental as physical, and she has built the ability to bounce back quickly rather than let a mistake linger. She values team chemistry highly, understanding that her own level of play is tied to lifting up the players around her, and she brings a strong work ethic and steady communication to every rotation as a middle. Since last season, her ball placement has become more purposeful. She isn't just swinging for power anymore. She is identifying open spots and playing with real intention behind every attack. Lanuola is early in her recruiting process and has been working to push past her natural shyness, signing up for more clinics and showcases to get in front of coaches and grow more comfortable being seen. That willingness to step outside her comfort zone is already changing how she shows up on the court.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Remi Cruz Wilder sets with a clear priority: build chemistry her hitters can count on. She takes the time to learn what each attacker likes and works to deliver a ball they can put away with confidence, and she takes pride in giving her hitters the best possible option even when a play breaks down. That reliability has made her a setter her teammates trust, and her positive, reassuring presence has developed into real on-court leadership. Since last season, she has focused on getting quicker on her feet in long rallies and defensive situations, sharpening her reaction time and bringing more consistency to her overall game. Remi is at the beginning of building her recruiting presence and is focused right now on growing her volleyball-specific platform so her highlights reach the coaches who need to see them, a clear and practical first step in getting her game in front of more programs.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Reese Booth runs an offense with a calm, high-IQ approach that keeps opposing defenses guessing. She moves the ball around deliberately, distributing to keep blockers off balance, and she thrives in high-pressure game situations rather than shrinking from them. Her leadership shows up in how steady she stays under pressure and in how consistently she pushes her teammates to bring their best. After a mid-season ankle injury, Reese made a deliberate choice to get faster on the court, adding strength and conditioning work outside of practice to rebuild her mobility and then some. That kind of response to adversity says as much about her as any set she runs. Reese has already begun hearing back from D2 programs after emailing coaches at the D1 and D2 level, and she stays consistent with her outreach, updating her film and reaching out to her target schools both before and after tournaments.

~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

If You Enjoyed This Article, Help Us Keep the Momentum Going

🔥 Athletes

Chemistry is built long before it shows up in a game.
