2029 Rankings Update: Closer Look at Nos. 11-15

It was the first time this recruiting cycle had numbers next to names, the previous iterations being Watch Lists.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You can check out that rundown, which also includes new names on the Watch List&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://prepdig.com/iowa/rankings/2029-rankings/">HERE</a></strong>. A good all-around athlete that stands out on the basketball court, the Iowa City West sophomore boasts a pretty high ceiling in volleyball, too. It certainly has a chance to be her best sport and future in college. Fortunately, she has time to figure that out. I noticed improvement last season when Austen helped the Trojans reach the state tournament for the first time since 2016 as a freshman. Another scouting opportunity at the Prep Dig Gauntlet in June saw her continue her ascent. But, boy, there sure was a leap forward when watching her play last week. Austen's attack is explosive. She rises up with a big vertical and hammers the ball. An improving feel for the game allows her to beat the defense no matter what it presents as evidenced by improved efficiency. She's as athletic and explosive as any player in the class. It's a big old vertical leap, hang time and a swing packing a bunch of power. Ohda is continuing to sharpen her technique and skills with more high-end reps, leading to improved efficiency. She progressed a lot during the club campaign, which included steps forward in playing through six rotations. Like quite a few others in these rankings, Ohda has a chance to move up as she climbs towards a very high ceiling. It's been fun watching everything come together for her. She impressed every time with a consistent performance through six rotations. You can tell she spends a lot of time working on her game because it's technically advanced for her age. The Ankeny Christian sophomore is a handful lining up at the pin. She jumps well, creates velocity with her swing and makes smart decisions as an attacker. There's potential for much more in that area as she adds strength. I always leave the court appreciating her consistent contributions to winning and the versatility to produce through six rotations. The Hudson sophomore brings a big swing to the outside pin and smartly adjusts to what the defense presents. She makes good decisions with the swing and finds holes to attack Sometimes that's just hammering the ball through the block. Davis's long arms help her play taller than her height, aiding in the effectiveness of the block. The Wapsie Valley sophomore has proven time and time again to be one of the toughest, high-motor players whenever I watch her. She stands in against some of the nation's top attackers on the club circuit and wins a fair share of the battles. It often forces the opposition away from challenging her. Decker is athletic and quick with sharp technique, leading to consistently strong performances. She moves well laterally and covers a ton of court. Decker is vocal and leads in keeping the team connected. Entering this week, she ranked second among Warriors in dig and kills, illustrating her all-around skills. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
