Rob Howe | Prep Dig Scout
Ohda is a kid just scratching the surface of what she can become. The ability is there for a high-end outcome with further development and the sharpening of skills. She’s tracking to reach that sizable ceiling. At present, Ohda is a force at the pin. She gets there with explosion off of the court, extraordinary leaping ability and power generated from her right arm. Ohda mixes up her attack well, going line when it’s there, finding openings to put it down elsewhere or hitting off of the block. Throwing up the block, her athleticism and long arms make her an effective defender at the net. Ohda is gaining more consistency in the back row and flashes the potential to be impactful through six rotations.

If heavy arms are your thing, Ohda is the all-showcase pick for you. The ball sounded different off her hand, whether it was on an in-system rip or a scramble play from off the net. Her aggressive swings scored in any situation imaginable, which can be a game-wrecker when showcases move to six-on-six competition. Of course, Ohda blends this aggression into her defensive attitude in the back row, giving Iowa Rockets a can’t-miss athlete from the Class of 2029.

The ball had a different sound off of Ohda’s hand. We didn’t know what to expect from this Pleasant Valley standout who had played hybrid roles as an outside hitter and a defensive specialist. Ohda promptly put on one of the hardest-hitting attacking displays in Des Moines last weekend. Her power overwhelmed backcourt defenders and made Ohda a go-to terminator during team scrimmages.
