Ohda has been one of the fastest rising prospects in Iowa’s 2029 Class, and the Pleasant Valley sophomore checks in at No. 12 in the first Prep Dig rankings for the recruiting cycle. She’s as athletic and explosive as any player in the class. It’s a big old vertical leap, hang time and a swing packing a bunch of power. Ohda is continuing to sharpen her technique and skills with more high-end reps, leading to improved efficiency. She progressed a lot during the club campaign, which included steps forward in playing through six rotations. Like quite a few others in these rankings, Ohda has a chance to move up as she climbs towards a very high ceiling. It’s been fun watching everything come together for her. The future is certainly bright.

Avri Ohda is a fiery outside hitter with an insane vertical and fast arm swing. Ohda is a very well-rounded six-rotation player with good control and a high IQ. Not only did the sophomore do a fantastic job leading her club team, but now we will get to see how she contributes to the PV Spartan varsity squad. With her work ethic and high ceiling, I’m excited to see all that Ohda accomplishes in 2026/2027.

Ohda is a kid just scratching the surface of what she can become. The ability is there for a high-end outcome with further development and the sharpening of skills. She’s tracking to reach that sizable ceiling. At present, Ohda is a force at the pin. She gets there with explosion off of the court, extraordinary leaping ability and power generated from her right arm. Ohda mixes up her attack well, going line when it’s there, finding openings to put it down elsewhere or hitting off of the block. Throwing up the block, her athleticism and long arms make her an effective defender at the net. Ohda is gaining more consistency in the back row and flashes the potential to be impactful through six rotations.
