The deeper I get into North Dakota's 2030 class, the more names I keep adding to my notebook. This group comes from different positions and brings different things to the court, but they share one thing: they've given me a reason to keep watching this fall. Some are already taking on big roles, while others have shown flashes that make you stop and take another look. We're still a long way from ranking this class, and that's what makes the watchlist fun. Right now, it's about recognizing the 2030s who are putting together strong seasons and showing us there is a lot more coming from this class.

[player_tooltip player_id='938546' first='Stella' last='Acosta'] is a worker, and you see it in how involved she stays at the net. She has been used in the middle but can also move to the pin, and I like what that versatility allows her to do. She works to get up and available offensively, but she also has to turn around and get right back to work blocking. There isn't much standing around waiting for the play to come to her. Stella is moving, transitioning, and finding ways to be involved, and that motor has been one of the things I've noticed most from her this season. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

I've been watching [player_tooltip player_id='1047645' first='Nora' last='Ahlberg'] in the middle, and she's starting to put together some good plays at the net. She works along the net with the play and is learning when to close and when to stay home. Offensively, I like seeing her get up and give her setter an option instead of disappearing when the pass isn't perfect. Middle is a position that asks a young player to process a lot quickly, and Nora has had some impressive stretches this fall that have made me want to keep watching her. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='850173' first='Carollyn' last='Christy'] is more than just an outside hitter who can take a swing. I really like her volleyball IQ. She sees what's happening around her and has a good sense of what the play needs instead of forcing something that isn't there. What has probably impressed me even more is the defensive side of her game. Carollyn stays involved after she rotates off the net, reads the court, and gives you another player who can handle the ball. For an outside, that complete-game piece is important, and it's a big part of what has stood out to me this fall. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Some defenders chase the ball; others seem to know where it's going. [player_tooltip player_id='992677' first='Tessa' last='Haugeberg'] has shown me some of the latter. She watches hitters, reads the court, and gets into position before the ball is even on top of her. I like seeing her adjust depending on what is happening at the net instead of planting herself in one defensive spot and hoping the ball comes there. When a young defender starts understanding hitters and not just the ball, I pay attention. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1017962' first='Kadence' last='Husar'] doesn't need to crush every ball to score, and that's one of my favorite parts of watching her attack. She is already showing some feel for placement from the outside. She can see the available court and execute a shot instead of simply swinging at whatever is in front of her. That's an important distinction. Power will continue to come as these 2030s get older, but learning how to score around a defense is different. Kadence has shown that piece this season, and it adds another layer to her offensive game. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='1047607' first='Jordyn' last='Kollman'] is locked in when she is on the court. She is constantly watching what is developing around her, and I like how focused she stays from one contact to the next. As an outside, there is a lot to process between transitioning to attack, getting back into defensive position, and being ready to handle the next ball, and Jordyn works through it all. She stays engaged even when she isn't the player getting the touch. She reads, moves, and prepares for what comes next. That work rate, combined with her engagement, has made her an outside player. I've really enjoyed watching this fall. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
