We find all shapes and sizes of high-end players from all walks of life and all parts of the state. The series this week highlights the freshmen that are major parts of their respective team's playoff run, and what to expect from them moving forward. Here are five freshmen from 2A squads worth the watch.

Anchoring the defense is one thing. But Blackford is doing something no current student has ever seen in their lifetimes—-earning a winning season. Kendyl is the libero for Blackford, and has both serve receive and floor defense on lock. Hundreds of digs, consistent serve receive and the ability to take the second ball and make it hittable are developed skills of hers that look natural. That profile pic is a perfect example; fiery, athletic and into every single point. And wearing the libero jersey as a freshman is no small feat; she's doing all of this while having the Bruins in a place they've never been. Her success is their success, and she'll be there for years to come.

Smart when she needs to be and high-and-hard the rest of the time, Darby is a Monon Select player with all the potential of being anything from a three-rotation pin attacker to a full-time outside hitter at the next level. Springy and athletic, she's part of a pair of freshmen that have the outside hitting position solidified for the Bulldogs for years.

The second of TWO pin-attacking freshmen for the Bulldogs, Marley is an active and athletic outside hitter that makes up for her size with shot selection and taking what the defense gives her. Although smaller than the average next-level outside, Marley's ability to jump, speed, and make up for her height is on constant display with her constant and consistent athleticism.

As the primary setter for PH, Kinsley is a spitfire of a setter who can get to most every ball passed anywhere remotely close to her and make it hittable. I like the athleticism and speed—-at the next level, that will come in handy in a 6-2 needing a little boost from the quarterback of the offense.

Jentrie is a hard-hitting middle from Adams Central, one of the top teams in 2A in Indiana. She hits a heavier ball than anyone on this list, making her awfully hard to contain defensively. Undisciplined blocks are punished, as she tools them regularly. Defenders not locked in and stopped are used as target practice. Miss Schaefer is capable of hitting from anywhere, as you will see when watching her play this coming Saturday. What amazes me further about this young lady is that nothing seemingly fazes her.
