Adding Some Firepower to the 2027 State Ranking List

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The State Rankings release is here!!! We have unveiled the top 137 players in this latest publishing of the 2027 class. Strong range. Different tempos and different angles. Those are the specific words Prep Dig lead scout Michelle Bamford used after watching [player_tooltip player_id='887957' first='Ava' last='Van Peteghem'] earn Top Performer recognition at the Northern California Exposure Tour and they are worth reading carefully because they describe exactly what separates a hitter who is productive from one who is difficult to defend. After watching her highlight film, I see that she has the unique ability to score in a variety of situations rather than relying on one preferred shot is what kept defenders uncomfortable throughout her play what will keep them uncomfortable at the next level as well. I love how she challenges the block with intentional swings rather than swinging into whatever coverage is there and her defensive engagement along the net shows a player who understands both sides of the ball. At 5'11" with the versatility to contribute at both left and right side pin positions and with that, the positional flexibility she offers makes her recruiting profile stronger than a single number or credential can capture. This young lady's movement in our State Ranking List. That number sits 20th in all of California and in the top three in the Central Coast Section and it belongs to a player committed to UC Riverside who has been putting up 3.9 kills per set while hitting at that efficiency against a legitimate NorCal schedule. Efficiency at .393 is not the product of getting easy balls and swinging hard. It is the product of decision-making under pressure, adjusting shot selection when the defense loads up, and converting the opportunities that count rather than the ones that pad a stat sheet. She contributes at both outside hitter and right side and her 19 aces show she is impactful on the serve as well. The full game she brings across multiple phases of a match is what earns a player this ranking and Fleming has been delivering that all fall. We can't wait to see what she continues to do for the rest of the season. The beach background tends to sharpen a player's reading of the defense and her ability to handle imperfect sets without forcing contact is a byproduct of competing in an environment where passing and attacking are entirely on you. At 6'0" on the left pin, the contact point she reaches is genuinely difficult to block without elite timing and she has been competing in one of the stronger Orange County leagues all fall. She describes her approach to the game as deeply analytical and technically focused, which shows up in how she processes adjustments within a match rather than repeating mistakes.
