She was doing that again when watching Dike-New Hartford compete at the Iowa City High quad against bigger schools late last month. The junior stands out for her athleticism and quickness along with her consistency as a technically-sound player. Asche moves well laterally and flashes sharp reflexes, which have contributed to her ranking second on the team in digs entering this week's action. She also was second in kills thanks to a big vertical leap and heaviness in the swing. Asche is worthy of more attention along the recruiting trail.

I've watched Meester grow up in the game during the last several years along the club circuit and with Dike-New Hartford. When seeing her compete again at the Iowa City High quad late last month, it was the best performance I've witnessed. The senior was in command of the court, which has played into her ranking among the state leaders in assists. Meester consistently put the ball on the money for her attackers, understanding where they want it and giving them the best chance to succeed. She also ranks among the team leaders in digs, which speaks to her athleticism and skills in being able to come up with the opposing attack and opportunities in serve-receive.

I remember first seeing Varney compete in person when she was a freshman at the Mount Vernon tournament. There were misses against a very high-end field of teams, but the foundation was there for success in the not-too-distant future. The Dike-New Hartford libero looked to have advanced her game when scouting her at last year's state tournament. The same could be said when watching her again at the Iowa City High tournament late last month. Varney was locking down the back row and is a big reason why the Wolverines are legit state title contenders. She combines natural athleticism with a high volleyball IQ to consistently kick start transition.

The first time I scouted Berinobis in person happened late last month at the Iowa City High tournament. It was an eye-opening performance for a prospect that had been flying below our radar here at Prep Dig Iowa. Obviously, that will no longer be the case as we have her ranked in the Top 25 of the 2029 rankings. The sophomore is looks taller than her listed height of 5-11. Some of that could be her very long arms and big old vertical leap. Berinobis rises well above the net on the attack and comes down with a hammer swing. She does well in reading the block and working off of it. Her block is imposing with her quick leaping ability and keen timing. The Dike-New Hartford 10th-grader is one of her class's highest-ceiling prospects.

Dike-New Hartford's [player_tooltip player_id='1045426' first='Keilana' last='Berinobis']. The high school volleyball years create wonderful life memories for everyone involved. Connections are strong.

That thought was the impetus behind developing these scouting-report/photo pieces a few seasons ago to act as yearbook pages. I've written as many of them as I could based on watching teams play in person. Hopefully, they capture that squad in words and pictures, and can be accessed years down the road.

Today, we look at Dike-New Hartford, who I watched compete at the Iowa City High quad late last month. The Wolverines impressed by knocking off the host and Liberty, a pair of ranked Class 5A squads. They proved they're not only one of the top teams in 1A, but one of the best regardless of classification.

Here's a closer look at student-athletes standing out followed by photos of Dike-New Hartford:

Sager is a player that impressed me when she was a freshman and has continued doing so through the years. My latest in-person scouting opportunity happened at the Iowa City High quad late last month. The Dike-New Hartford junior was swinging away from the pin, her arm becoming more powerful than the last time I saw her during the club campaign. Sager is a high-riser with a big vertical. She's technically sound when on the attack or when throwing up the block. Coming into Tuesday night's action, Sager was leading the Wolverines in kills while ranking third in blocks. She's capable of helping plenty of programs on the next level as a prospect with plenty of potential.
