It was the place to be for any top ranked team from all corners and all divisions in the state.

There were NO easy games here. From the very start to the very end, you had to bring your A game or learn the hard way. These athletes were all game changers in their respective teams' success. All of which led the way to gold bracket finishes, and even further.

With a 16 team field, we are breaking down the golden girls of the Beast of the East by position. Next ball, it's going to the setters. They're in control of the pace of the game and who's getting fed the ball. Without them, these teams aren't going anywhere. Let's chat these golden girls at the setting position.

[player_tooltip player_id='490372' first='Piper' last='Cebulski'] - Grand Rapids Christian

This offense was operating at an unstoppable level all throughout the day. [player_tooltip player_id='490372' first='Piper' last='Cebulski'] had the midas touch. Grand Rapids Christian manage to cruise throughout the day pretty unscathed until the championship. Cebulski was playing some of her best volleyball until an untimely injury.

[player_tooltip player_id='850401' first='Avery' last='Geer'] - Frankenmuth

If you're looking for any specific reason for Frankenmuth having the season they're having, after Saturday, it clearly starts with [player_tooltip player_id='850401' first='Avery' last='Geer']. This setter brings so much to the court. Outside of her sheer skill and read of the game, Geer brings such an emotional leadership to the court. Something that's even more impressive when you consider she is only a Sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White'] - East Grand Rapids

East Grand Rapids really has a lot of their success to thank from the setter, [player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White']. This is the kind of team that relies on a diverse offense and timely decisions, this doesn't happen without White at the helm. East Grand Rapids was able to come up with some nice wins and tough battles last weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='454358' first='Lily' last='Tripi'] - Utica Eisenhower

There is no denying that this is one of the most efficient offenses in the state. With [player_tooltip player_id='454358' first='Lily' last='Tripi'] at the helm, Utica Eisenhower has a pretty strong grip on opponents. At 6'2, Tripi not only brings a sense of tempo to her offense, but she can throw in a kill or two on her own that holds defenders steady before seeing her next move.

Cami Hamina - Roscommon

One of the highlights of the day was seeing little Division 3 Roscommon roll around with the big guns of the state. While they're equipped with a rather talented, and deep bench of attackers, you would be remiss to not give their setter her flowers. Cami Hamina is running one heck of a show for the Bucks. Her location is precise and decision making is timely.

[player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan'] - South Lyon East

This is another great example of a tall setter tripping up opponents with her presence alone. [player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan'] is maybe one of the tallest setters you'll find in Michigan. At 6'2, Kiernan is not only a scoring threat, but a blocking hazard (for other teams) as well. Kiernan is also equipped with a very different style of offense and the way she is able to get the most out of her squad is admirable.

[player_tooltip player_id='958515' first='Molly' last='Hickey'] - Marian

She was't only one of the few underclassmen running the show at Beast of the East, but [player_tooltip player_id='958515' first='Molly' last='Hickey'] was the only FRESHMAN doing the job. For a tournament of this stature, it can be a daunting task to overtake. For Hickey, she looked like a seasoned veteran on the court. Her ability to play the position is one thing, the skill is incredible. But to see the leadership and composure she has already at such an age is even more eye popping.

https://www.tiktok.com/@lshotvb/video/7698072357981703455?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7621309005139035661
