The Cedar Valley-based club’s representatives at the USAV Junior Nationals finished fifth in the USA Division, tops among teams in the program and among the best finishes for an Iowa squad this year. Phelps was a key piece of the puzzle, providing power at the pin. It’s a heavy hammer, especially for the age group. She does well in finding holes in the defense and ending points with authority. Phelps is a good athlete with a chance to contribute more all around the court as she sharpens her volleyball skills, which will lead to consistency and continued ascent toward a sizable ceiling.
