Six Key New Additions to Volunteer State 2028 Rankings

Club season has wound down. With that, more players received exposure and thus, made this list. More players tend to hit the list as scouts get around a specific state or they hear about them via word of mouth.    Anway has developed a consistent rhythm on first touches.Anway has great range and positions herself nicely behind blockers. Anway can make the simple passes and scooped up pancake digs throughout the season. Anway handles well-struck balls and stays under control against setovers. Anway provides quality net backup and makes good adjustments on deflected balls. Anway executes nice out of system sets, using her hands unless there is a need for a quicker reaction second touches. Anway sets balls back toward the net, giving hitters good spacing to work with to take quality swings.     Mewbourne positions her body to take her momentum to the sides. The lefty gets on top of balls and attacks seams with precision. Mewbourne delivers all across the net on various routes such as gap shots. Mewbourne uses a high vertical jump to hit balls over and around blockers. Mewbourne also plays relentless defense/ she makes clean passes and has developed great range as the result of also playing beach volleyball.     Collison is pesky at the net with her 13-inch jump. She uses that high attack point and a heavy hand to put great power into balls. Collison deposits ones all over the court and knows how to tool blocks for quick points. Collison's swing blocking comes in handy for Houston. She is sound on double and solo blocks with a great technique.     Billington (pictured) has a sound four-step approach to the net, extension and finish. Billington has a good arm swing to deposit balls to different parts of the court. Her vertical jump lets her get over and around blockers. Billington will receive a number of one-on-one opportunities playing for the loaded Red Raiders this fall. Billington displays her versatility playing all six spots on the floor. Billington makes crisp passes to jumpstart the offensive rhythm. She gets into attack mode quickly after those important first touches.     Neese's consistency and hustle play got her ranked in this rendition. Neese takes minimal steps to balls. She makes a number of controlled first passes including ones on well-struck crosses. Neese does a good job with net protection. She lunges when needed. Neese makes pancake digs to keep plays alive. Neese also sends out of system balls back toward the net.     Travis made this list as the result of learning how to use her size to control the net. Her athleticism and high attack point allow her to hit over and around double blocks consistently. Travis diversified her offensive attacks during club season. She runs effective fakes to take blockers away from teammates. She forms good double blocks with teammates forcing a number of balls high and wide. Travis also smacks down overpassed balls with authority.
