Houston Stock Up Showcase Top Performers Vol 1

Prep Dig Texas Showcases are back! We had some big events that were held at the Competitive Edge Sports Complex on July 25th. The Houston Stock Up showcase was amazing! These events always bring together athletes from across the state looking to compete in front of college coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. There were tons of awesome players that we evaluated from their awesome production. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. Let's take a closer look at three players who earned Top Performer honors at the Houston Stock Up showcase.    Jimena made the longest drive in this showcase group coming up from the Rio Grande Valley and she made every mile worth it. Her attacking game was sharp and purposeful from the very first set she got her hands on, generating real power from the left pin without sacrificing consistency. Her serve receive platform was steady throughout both the skill segments and the scrimmage competition and she held her ground against quality servers without flinching. Court coaches noted how rarely she gave away a free ball, which is one of the clearest indicators of a player who has been trained to compete in all six rotations. She communicated well, brought genuine energy to her teammates, and never let a difficult moment turn into a lost point without doing something about it first. The RGV does not send many players to Houston-area showcases at this level, but when they do, they always ball out. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase     Aria is the kind of back row player who makes a defense feel different the moment she steps on the floor. Her reads throughout the Houston showcase were early and accurate and she positioned herself ahead of the play in a way that made even difficult serves and attacks look manageable. As I watched her throughout the event, I saw her first step as one of the elite tools in the room at the libero position regardless of class year. She communicated constantly with the players around her, organized the back row between every point, and competed with an urgency no matter the drill or situation. At 5'3" in the class of 2029, everything in her game has been built on instinct and execution and we loved watching her compete. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase     Libby is a 2030 libero who came to Spring and looked comfortable playing against athletes who were in many cases a full class ahead of her. Her floor coverage was one of the things court coaches mentioned most throughout the day, tracking down balls deep in the corners and along the sideline that most defenders her age concede without a second thought. She stayed low and disciplined through every contact, and the shape of her platform did not change whether she was handling a sharp crosscourt attack or digging a ball out of the net seam. Her communication definitely stood out as she led while she was on the floor and also on the sideline. The composure she showed in the scrimmage segments when the pace of play elevated was the quality that stood out most to the evaluators in attendance. At 5'4" with her entire high school career still ahead of her, the foundation she showed in Spring suggests the development curve is going to be a steep and exciting one to watch.
