Minnesota Stock Up Pins that Ruled the Court

From powerful swings to crafty shots, the pin hitters brought a lot of energy to the court. There was no shortage of athletes who could terminate, but what stood out even more was the versatility as there were many players who could adjust, see the block, and find different ways to score.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After watching these athletes compete, several pin hitters stood out for their athleticism, competitiveness, and ability to make an impact on their side of the court. Some brought the big swing, some impressed with their consistency, and others showed a high volleyball IQ that allowed them to create opportunities even when the play or set wasn't quite perfect. They have a strong mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars, and one of those rising stars to keep an eye on is pin hitter Nagel. She is fierce, fluid, and extremely athletic. She did a great job at the showcase getting her feet to the ball and using her quick arm swing to terminate from several areas of the court. What stood out to me though was not only how terminal and consistent she was from the right side, but also how effective she was attacking from the left pin as well, which is normally something that can be a challenge for many lefties. Roelike does a great job creating smart angles and finding ways to score no matter where she is attacking from on the court. Seeing her up close today, it is clear she has put a lot of work into improving the little things that can make a big difference. I first saw her early in the spring playing up a year with SWMNVB at a tournament in Rochester and even then, she showed a lot of skill and potential. Since then, she has continued to take big steps forward. Her passing has become more consistent, her defense has improved, and her attacking has become an even bigger weapon. She does a great job setting the block, getting her hands over and in the right position, and takes away the line. She showed that ability throughout the showcase, putting up numerous blocks and making attackers think twice before swinging. What also stood out was how quickly she transitions off the net to become a strong offensive weapon. She was dynamic, strong, powerful, and honestly just fun to watch as she attacked from the pins. I especially liked what I saw from her on the right side where she showed how dangerous she can be when she gets going. She moves quickly, gets her feet to the ball, and creates a lot of power behind her swing.
