Six Georgia Expected to Change the Shape of the 2026 Season

Every season has players who dominate the headlines.   Then there are the athletes who quietly determine how high a team can climb.   They control first contact, create offense from broken plays, turn favorable matchups into points and provide the consistency that keeps a lineup from unraveling. Their impact may not always come from the loudest play, but when their level rises, the entire team begins looking different.   These six Georgia athletes enter the 2026 season as potential swing factors. Each already produced in a meaningful role last fall. The next question is what happens when greater responsibility, stronger expectations and new team dynamics place even more weight on what she does best.    Abby already handled substantial responsibility in Blessed Trinity's serve-receive system, leading the team with 476 receptions while adding 217 digs and 43 aces. She finished second on the roster in both digs and serving aces during a season in which Blessed Trinity went undefeated in region play.   The upcoming season gives Abby an opportunity to move from dependable contributor to backcourt leader. Her impact will be visible in how confidently she manages seams, whether she can stabilize difficult rotations and how consistently she converts defensive contacts into usable transition opportunities. Blessed Trinity possesses plenty of front-row talent, but that talent becomes considerably more dangerous when a defender like Abby consistently gives the offense quality first contact. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Kaleigh brings one of the more versatile front-row profiles in this group. She completed the 2025 season with 185 kills, a team-leading .289 hitting percentage, 45 total blocks and 40 aces across 98 sets. Her season also included a 10-kill performance on .667 hitting against Collins Hill, showing the efficiency she can produce when her timing and attacking connections are established.   Lowndes can use Kaleigh's ability to contribute through the middle or on the pin to create different matchups. Her next step is turning that flexibility into sustained influence across entire matches. If she can remain efficient while increasing her attacking volume and becoming a more disruptive blocker, Kaleigh could give Lowndes a front-row identity capable of changing how opponents prepare. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Raegan produced 124 kills and 54 total blocks during her sophomore season, finishing second on Pope's roster in blocking. She also showed flashes of greater offensive efficiency during the postseason, including 10 kills on a .421 hitting percentage against Johns Creek in the state quarterfinals.   Her opportunity comes through expansion. Pope graduated its leading middle attacker and blocker, creating room for Raegan to become a more consistent part of both the offensive and defensive game plans. Faster transition movement, stronger connections with the setters and greater blocking range could move her from an important contributor into one of the central players determining Pope's postseason ceiling. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Wynnie handled enormous defensive volume as a sophomore, finishing with 513 digs, 548 receptions, 47 aces and 128 assists. Her 4.8 digs per set led Pope by a significant margin and helped provide the first-contact foundation for a team that finished 31-9 and reached the Class 5A state semifinals.   Pope will enter the new season replacing several experienced seniors, making Wynnie's stability even more valuable. She can become the athlete who connects old and new pieces by controlling seams, taking ownership of difficult serves and keeping transition opportunities alive. If Pope's next lineup develops quickly, Wynnie's ability to make the backcourt feel organized may be one of the biggest reasons why. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Samantha gives Walker an experienced offensive organizer returning after producing 907 assists, 260 digs, 71 aces and 34 blocks. She repeatedly reached eight or more assists per set during the final weeks of the 2025 season, showing that she could maintain volume while also contributing through serving, defense and front-row play.   Her influence will be measured by more than the final assist total. Samantha must manage tempo, keep multiple attackers confident and create hittable opportunities when first contact pulls her away from the net. With Annabelle providing an established scoring option, Samantha's ability to develop the rest of the offense could be the difference between a productive lineup and one that becomes too easy to predict. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Annabelle enters her senior season after serving as Walker's leading attacker, recording 389 kills while averaging 3.2 kills per set. She also contributed 249 digs, 51 aces and 28 blocks, giving her production in nearly every phase of the match. Her kill total ranked among the top 30 reported marks in Georgia during the 2025 season.   The swing factor will be Annabelle's ability to remain efficient while carrying a predictable workload. Opponents will know where Walker wants to go when the match becomes tight. Her transition speed, serve-receive stability and ability to find productive swings against organized blocks could determine whether Walker can turn close sets into victories. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga    The swing factor is not always the athlete taking the final swing.   Sometimes it is the setter who turns a poor pass into a one-on-one opportunity. It may be the libero who prevents a serving run from gaining momentum, the middle who forces an opponent to abandon its preferred attack or the outside hitter who continues producing after every defensive adjustment has been aimed in her direction.   Annabelle, Samantha, Wynnie, Raegan, Kaleigh and Abby each enter the season with an opportunity to influence more than their individual statistics. Their growth could change how their teams serve, defend, attack and respond when matches become uncomfortable.   Those are the players who do more than contribute to a season.   They change its direction.
