Week 5 is a short week coming off Labor day weekend. Conferences are starting to sort themselves out and quality non conference matches are here. Let's take a look at a few Games of the Week.

9/8 3A #3 Lincoln Christian @ 5A #5 Bishop Kelley

We got a heavyweight private school showdown. Lots of state titles and appearances between these two teams. This game is the best game to watch tomorrow!

Head Coach at Lincoln Christian, Deidra Rader. “I feel really excited about our season. We had a huge win over OCS that breathed life into our sails and showed us what we're capable of, but also took some hard losses this week, which helps us keep evaluating where we can shore up our weaknesses.

We see it as a laboratory to try some new things we explored in practice today. Since it's not a 3A matchup, it doesn't have quite the same weight to affect our postseason, but to get a win and back over the hump of this week's losses would be a great morale boost. We see it as an opportunity to course-correct what we want to work on as a team and the chips will fall as they may.”

Key Players: [player_tooltip player_id='766939' first='Harlow' last='Brown'] and Niya Willoby are big time players for LC. They will have to duke it out with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='919281' first='Karis' last='Pratt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='933811' first='Finley' last='Gehring'] from BK.

9/10 5A #1 Bishop McGuinness @ 6A #2 Edmond Memorial

Hard to beat a 1 vs 2 matchup. Even though they are not in the same class, they are both heavyweight teams that throw big punches. Plenty of college level players will litter the court that evening.

Key Players: [player_tooltip player_id='748672' first='Arielle' last='Yapi'] from BM and Averi Mannshreck from Memorial can both terminate at a high level. [player_tooltip player_id='915682' first='Rylie' last='Amos'] from Memorial may just be a freshman but she is on the same talent level as [player_tooltip player_id='752471' first='Abby' last='Buckelew'] and [player_tooltip player_id='283004' first='Merritt' last='Fuller'] from BM. [player_tooltip player_id='902260' first='Melinda' last='Parham'] is a standout underclassmen that could be a difference maker for the Irish.

9/10 6A #9 Owasso @ 6A #6 Broken Arrow

What a battle we got here! Two of the biggest schools in the state, two conference titans and two teams battling to host a regional in October. The odds of this being a sweep is slim to none. It will be a knock down drag out till the end.

Head Coach at Owasso, Meghann Kannett. “I feel really proud of the way the girls are playing at this point in the season. They are playing competitively and hungry for the wins. They show determination and they are finding their confidence. We know the season is close to the half way point so we have to keep pushing ourselves to get better and not be just satisfied with the way we have been playing so far.”

Head Coach at Broken Arrow, Ian Bullen. “ We have played a pretty tough schedule so far with over half our matches vs top 10 teams. Tough matches have helped us learn a lot about our team. We are excited to see our adjustments lead to more success in the 2nd half of the season

Owasso is a solid blocking team with a pair of dynamic outside hitters. We will have our hands full defending those hitters and beating their big blocks.”

Key Players: [player_tooltip player_id='610402' first='Aliyah' last='Owens'] from BA and [player_tooltip player_id='411302' first='Madilyn' last='Hill'] from Owasso are amongst two of the best players in the state of Oklahoma. [player_tooltip player_id='1039379' first='Kelsey' last='Patton'] for BA across the net from [player_tooltip player_id='755002' first='Cydney' last='Hilliard'] for Owasso will be a big time matchup to watch.

As always, good luck to all the players and teams this week. Play hard and stay safe!
