CRUSHING IT AT THE NET: Class of 2029

This group is doing exactly that. They are attacking with confidence, finding creative ways to score, and making opposing defenses work for every point.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>From crafty middles to explosive pins, these four athletes are showing us plenty to like at the net. She does not need endless swings to make an impact. When the opportunity comes, she knows how to make it count. Her reach gives her plenty of options against the block. She can challenge defenders and find space when it opens. That combination makes her a difficult hitter to slow down. Moerman continues to show that scoring is not always about swinging harder. It is about making the right swing at the right time. It does not matter if the first contact is perfect. Lane stays ready to make herself an option. When she gets the ball, she has plenty of ways to score. She can attack straight down with her quick swing. She can also work a ball toward the deep corner. That creativity makes her tough to read. Lane is showing that a middle can bring plenty of variety to an offense. She also shows a good feel for what the defense is giving her. Instead of forcing every swing, she continues finding ways to make the most of each opportunity. There is plenty of athleticism to build around, too. As her confidence grows, those physical tools should give her even more options at the net. Gurdgiev is still developing, which makes her especially intriguing. There is already plenty to like. When she gets a good look at the court, she can snap the ball down in a hurry. That speed leaves defenders very little time to react. She also has plenty of power behind the swing. Give Lucero an open spot, and she can turn it into a big offensive play. For a young outside, that combination is exciting.
