This will merely be a look at a handful of freshmen making an early prep impact, and we're not embarking on any ranked hierarchies yet. Garden City brings plenty of intrigue from its underclassman group, and Hemmert is a clear leader among the 2030s. She ranks second on the Buffalo ledger with nearly three kills per set, wielding a long, fluid approach on the left antenna. Hemmert has a knack for transitioning to her spots quickly and providing a worthy scoring outlet for her setter. Buckley may have been among the youngest participants at this summer's event, but she brought the kind of physicality you'd expect from a seasoned veteran. Furthermore, her ability to read setters and make deliberate blocking moves has flourished in the Eagles' gym. We're eager to see how Yarmer's positional designation evolves, as she has already proven her prowess on either side of the setter. However, her left-side attacking role has taken precedence lately, and Yarmer has not shied away from the increased workload. Weatherby is an ideal representative for this pack after amassing nearly two and a half kills per set to open the fall season. Eureka has quickly discovered novel ways of dishing the ball to Weatherby under any circumstances. She has a powerful, snappy swing that can stagger opposing defenders, even when they're in the ideal spot to make a play. Olathe Northwest has unleashed a brilliant group of underclassmen, with Sanders providing all-around stability on second contacts. Aside from her pin-to-pin distribution, Sanders has also displayed uncanny defensive instincts that have yielded about three digs per set from the right-back area. The Trojans have raced out to a 17-6 start while staking their claim as a 1A-II title contender. That aptly describes Jamescupp, who has tallied numbers in seemingly every corner of the stat sheet. Her three-plus digs per set is most impressive, and Jamescupp does most of this work while anchoring the left-back area. But we've also seen additional wrinkles to Jamescupp's game in the front row, where she can bring assertive swings to both antennas. Redmond just wrapped up an exceptional spring campaign with Dynasty 14 Black, and she'll make the transition to PVA for the upcoming 2027 slate. She fits the prototypical mold of a springy outside hitter who can bring some serious defensive range in all six rotations.
