More Prospects Arriving on the Varsity Radar

Ciapala is having a breakout season offensively for Crestview. The Rebels are 12-0 in Mahoning Valley Athletic conference play (16-3 overall) as she leads their offense at 3.8 k/s. With 259 total kills, she leads the league among all hitters while also boasting the top efficiency at .288. She has had some big matches, including a career best 27 kills on a .417 efficiency in a 3-2 win over McDonald. Ciapala shows good balance in her ability to swing aggressively while also using control and movement to keep opposing defenses off balance.     The 5'6 Huck is contributing big-time numbers defensively as she has amassed 526 digs on the season for an average of 27.7 d/m for the Cadets. In her first regular varsity action, Huck started the season setting the tone for her season-long effort as she set her season and career high of 50 digs in a match versus Marietta back in August. A good all-around athlete, Huck plays defense with balance and movement in adjusting her hips well to extend her platform and create good angles.     Grilli is just a freshman but plays with great poise and composure for this SFD team. As a six-rotation pin, she contributes well in different phases of the game. With 163 total digs, she picks up 8.2 d/m while also contributing well in their serve receive pattern. On the offensive side, she averages 2.2 k/s as she has terminated the ball 134 times. Her offense is good enough to factor her in the Stallions' core trio of hitters. Grilli has been playing well as of late as SFD has won three consecutive matches, all 3-0 sweeps, as she earned 31 kills (3.4 k/s) to balance her effort of 25 digs defensively over that same stretch.     Young is leading the Clyde offense at 2.7 k/s, an impressive position to be in as a freshman first-time varsity athlete. At 5'9, she moves well and competes confidently at the net to swing with good control of her arm, including ability to place the ball into space in the opposing defense. On the defensive side, Young adds 9.9 d/m for a complete effort each time they take the court. She established a new career high of 16 kills in their first match of October, as she has been on a good stretch performing above her offensive season average multiple times and consecutively recently.     With 276 total digs so far in her freshman season for Clay, Rider is averaging 14.5 d/m to go along with 59 service aces. Her impact for the Panthers is instrumental in helping put pressure on their opponents as Clay is currently 16-4 overall. With over 100 digs more than any of her teammates, Rider has picked up 20 or more digs in a single match as she established her career high of 27 digs back in September.
