O’Pry gives Trinity Christian another young setter developing inside a postseason environment. The sophomore is listed as a setter on the Lions’ varsity roster.

The trait I’m most interested in with young setters is adaptability. High-school offenses rarely stay perfectly in system. Setters spend a lot of time working from passes that pull them away from the net, and the ability to make a calm decision from an imperfect starting point becomes one of the clearest separators at the position.

For O’Pry, the recruitment question isn’t whether she can set a perfect pass. Most varsity setters can. It’s whether she can preserve offensive options after the pass removes some of them.

That means knowing when to push tempo, when to simplify, when to trust a hitter in a difficult matchup and when the smartest choice is simply giving the offense another playable ball.
