I wrote about Anna Kate Lovett Anna Kate Lovett 5'9" | OH/DS/L Charleston | 2029 AR a few days ago, but Charleston is going to need more than one player stepping up if the Lady Tigers want to punch their ticket to Hot Springs. Keep an eye on Tess Middleton.

The outside hitter/defensive specialist has quietly put together a solid season, recording 118 kills, 25 aces, 206 digs and 261 receptions in just 46 sets. What really catches my attention is that she’s committed only 22 reception errors.

That’s an average of 4.5 digs per set while handling nearly six receptions per set. Those are some pretty impressive numbers for a player who also contributes offensively. Middleton gives Charleston another six-rotation presence who can help control the back row, extend rallies and take pressure off Lovett.

Charleston has been one of the better postseason stories, going from a fourth-place conference finish to a regional championship and a spot in the state semifinals. Now the Lady Tigers need one more big performance to reach Hot Springs. Middleton’s ability to handle serve receive, keep balls alive and contribute offensively could be a big part of whether Charleston gets there.
