The field is getting smaller, the stakes are getting bigger, and there's no room for mistakes. The semifinals are here, and every team left standing is just one win away from playing for a state championship. Some are exactly where we expected them to be. Others have busted brackets and surprised just about everyone. But none of that matters now. Win today, and you're headed to Hot Springs. Lose, and you're headed home. Let's take a look at who's still standing and what it will take to get to Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id='1017880' first='Bailey' last='Edwards'], the younger sister of standout setter and POY candidate, [player_tooltip player_id='744272' first='Catelyn' last='Edwards'], has become an important part of the Lady Hornets' attack. Through 84 sets, Bailey has recorded 179 kills, averaging 2.1 per set, along with 49 aces, 26 blocks, 153 digs and 94 receptions.

Those are solid numbers for a player who contributes in just about every phase of the game. She can put balls away, create problems from the service line and help defensively. Having Catelyn running the offense certainly doesn't hurt, either. The sisters give Hackett a connection on the court that has helped the Lady Hornets continue their championship run.

What else can you say about [player_tooltip player_id='1046675' first='Lily' last='McNutt']? The 6'4" freshman has been putting up incredible numbers all season, but what she did Tuesday against Ozark Catholic was something special.

Lily recorded just the second state tournament triple-double in Cotter program history, finishing with 19 kills, 12 digs and 10 blocks. And she did it in just three sets! Her older sister junior Myah did it last year. The younger McNutt has 63 kills in three matches so far. She isn't the only weapon for the bunch of Warriors, but she is going to be a key against the battle testes Mansfield team. Twelve digs in a state quarterfinal show just how much she contributes on both sides of the ball.

Now Cotter is one win away from playing for a state championship, with defending 3A champion Mansfield standing in the way. The Lady Warriors have been knocking on the door. With the McNutt sisters leading the way, can they finally break through?

With all the attention on Cotter's powerful offense and the McNutt sisters, Mansfield's defense could be the difference in this semifinal matchup. One player to keep an eye on is junior libero [player_tooltip player_id='1057476' first='Bailey' last='Quick'].

Quick was a defensive specialist for the Lady Tigers last season during their run to the 3A state championship. This year, she's taken over the libero position and become an important part of Mansfield's back-row defense.

Mansfield head coach Heydenreich had this to say about Quick:

She started for us a DS last year, extremely hard worker and reads the ball very well.

Against Cotter, those instincts will be tested. The Lady Warriors have plenty of firepower, led by freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1046675' first='Lily' last='McNutt'], who is coming off a state quarterfinal triple-double. Mansfield will need to extend rallies, keep balls off the floor and turn Cotter's attacks into offensive opportunities of its own.

The big hitters will get plenty of attention, but don't overlook the work being done in the back row. If Mansfield is going to make another trip to Hot Springs, [player_tooltip player_id='1057476' first='Bailey' last='Quick'] could play a major role in getting them there.

Hedges is the kind of six-rotation player every coach loves to have on the floor. She can put balls away from the outside, but she's just as valuable in the back row, where her defensive play helps keep Fountain Lake in rallies.

We saw just how important she can be in the 3A South Regional championship against Conway Christian. Hedges finished with 13 kills and 10 digs as Fountain Lake rallied from a two-set deficit to win in five. Those 10 digs tell you just as much about her game as the 13 kills. She's not just an offensive option. She's a player who can make an impact throughout all six rotations.

Now Fountain Lake faces Charleston, another team that knows a little something about coming from behind. Both teams won their regional championships with reverse sweeps, and both have shown they can handle pressure.

For the Lady Cobras, Hedges will need to be productive on both sides of the ball. Charleston has been playing some of its best volleyball of the season, and Fountain Lake can't afford to give away easy points.

I wrote about [player_tooltip player_id='1045216' first='Anna' last='Kate Lovett'] a few days ago, but Charleston is going to need more than one player stepping up if the Lady Tigers want to punch their ticket to Hot Springs. Keep an eye on Tess Middleton.

The outside hitter/defensive specialist has quietly put together a solid season, recording 118 kills, 25 aces, 206 digs and 261 receptions in just 46 sets. What really catches my attention is that she's committed only 22 reception errors.

That's an average of 4.5 digs per set while handling nearly six receptions per set. Those are some pretty impressive numbers for a player who also contributes offensively. Middleton gives Charleston another six-rotation presence who can help control the back row, extend rallies and take pressure off Lovett.

Charleston has been one of the better postseason stories, going from a fourth-place conference finish to a regional championship and a spot in the state semifinals. Now the Lady Tigers need one more big performance to reach Hot Springs. Middleton's ability to handle serve receive, keep balls alive and contribute offensively could be a big part of whether Charleston gets there.

That's where outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='1045208' first='Millee' last='Gordon'] comes in. Gordon has put together a solid season, recording 174 kills, 151 digs, 43 assists and five total blocks in 89 sets. She's hitting .120, and her ability to contribute in both the front and back rows gives Mayflower another option.

Mayflower has already proven it can knock off one of the favorites. Now comes the challenge of doing it again with a trip to Hot Springs on the line.

Now in her sophomore season, Heeb has another opportunity to make an impact on the biggest stage.
Setter [player_tooltip player_id='1057540' first='Jesslyn' last='Martin'] has been putting in some serious work this season. Through 80 sets, Martin has dished out 426 assists, averaging 5.3 per set. She's also contributed 122 digs, 42 aces and 18 kills. Those numbers show a setter who does more than just distribute the ball.

Pottsville has some dangerous hitters, including [player_tooltip player_id='1041480' first='Ella' last='Drown'], but getting them quality opportunities starts with Martin. Her ability to make good decisions, move the ball around and keep the offense balanced will be important against a Brookland team with plenty of firepower of its own.

Jesslyn provides great impact from the service line. Forty-two aces from your setter can make a difference, especially in a tight match where a short scoring run can change the momentum.

Not bad for a sophomore running the offense of one of the top teams in 4A. She combines with jr setter [player_tooltip player_id='751454' first='Leah' last='Snearly'], 401 assists to keep the offensive engine humming.

The 64 aces are worth noting. Combs can create points from the service line, and her 211 digs show she's doing her share of the defensive work.

[player_tooltip player_id='769825' first='Asa' last='Perry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='764421' first='Rylee' last='Ferrell'] lead a talented Lady Miner attack, while Harmony Grove counters with [player_tooltip player_id='747267' first='Preslie' last='Walker'], [player_tooltip player_id='785641' first='Leelana' last='Kennach'] and [player_tooltip player_id='762345' first='Jaycee' last='Bossert'](who was held out of the South Regional with an injury). The Lady Cardinals have already seen what Bauxite brings to the court. Can they make the adjustments needed to turn the tables?

From Coach Korte:

We're super excited to be playing in the state semis today. This is our third meeting with Bauxite and we're split right now. I know the atmosphere is going to be insane and I hope my girls give it all they have. With 5 seniors playing, they know what's at stake and I hope that fuels their fire today. Jaycee is good! She rested the third day of regionals and into the weekend and was good to go on Monday for the first round!

Watching yesterday seemed like we were watching [player_tooltip player_id='764421' first='Rylee' last='Ferrell'] set [player_tooltip player_id='769825' first='Asa' last='Perry'], then turn around and watch Perry set Ferrell. That combination has been one of the things that makes Bauxite so difficult to defend. Both players are capable of running the offense or finishing the point. It's not often you see two players who can switch responsibilities so easily, but Bauxite has used that versatility to its advantage.

Ferrell has been productive throughout the season, and her regional tournament numbers tell part of the story. She finished with 30 kills, 55 assists, six blocks and 24 digs. That's a lot of work for one player, especially when she's being asked to contribute as both a setter and an attacker.

Now the Lady Miners are one win away from playing for a state championship, and they're doing it on their home court. Harmony Grove knows what Bauxite brings to the table. The two teams met in the 4A South Regional championship, and now they're facing each other again with a trip to Hot Springs on the line.

Bauxite has plenty of offensive options, but the Ferrell-Perry combination creates some difficult decisions for opposing defenses. You can't focus on one without giving the other opportunities.

Ferrell has been a big part of getting Bauxite to this point. Her ability to handle multiple roles will be important if the Lady Miners are going to finish the job.

The last time Bauxite and Harmony Grove met in the 4A South Regional championship, the Lady Cardinals were missing a big piece of their offense. [player_tooltip player_id='762345' first='Jaycee' last='Bossert'] was out with an injury.

That's a significant loss when you're talking about a player with 391 kills, a .403 hitting percentage and 40 blocks. Those are some serious numbers, especially the hitting percentage.

Now the two teams meet again with a trip to Hot Springs on the line. Bauxite has plenty of firepower with AJ Barnes, [player_tooltip player_id='769825' first='Asa' last='Perry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='764421' first='Rylee' last='Ferrell'], but Bossert gives Harmony Grove another offensive weapon alongside [player_tooltip player_id='747267' first='Preslie' last='Walker'] and super setter [player_tooltip player_id='785641' first='Leelana' last='Kennach']

Bauxite won the regional championship without having to face Bossert. If she's healthy and back on the floor, this could be a different matchup.

We've reached the point in the state tournament where there aren't any easy matches left. Some familiar programs are right where we expected them to be, while others have surprised a few people along the way. We've seen some great volleyball over the first two days, and I expect today to be even better.

By the end of the night, we'll know who's headed to Hot Springs and who's packing up for the season. Good luck to all the teams still playing. You've earned your spot. Now go take care of business.

2A | 3A | 4A Final Four Primer
The field is getting smaller, the stakes are getting bigger, and there's no room for mistakes. The semifinals are here, and every team left standing is just one win away from playing for a state championship. Some are exactly where we expected them to be. Others have busted brackets and surprised just about everyone. But none of that matters now. Win today, and you're headed to Hot Springs. Lose, and you're headed home. Let's take a look at who's still standing and what it will take to get to Saturday.
2A Semifinals | Familiar Foes, Unfinished Business and a Defending Champion
Hackett vs. Taylor
A rematch of last year's 2A state championship. Hackett swept Taylor to claim the title, and now the Lady Tigers have an opportunity to return the favor. The Lady Hornets are looking to defend their crown, but Taylor would love nothing more than to end that run one match short of another championship appearance.
From Coach Fisher:
These girls are chasing a three-peat, something that has never been accomplished at Hackett! That gives them plenty of motivation heading into the game today. A win today would send us to Hot Springs on Saturday, bringing them one step closer to the goal they've worked for all season long! They know what's at stake, and they are excited, motivated, and ready to go!
From Coach McHenry:
I hope that we've got enough juice in us to play with energy and intensity on day three. I've been really proud of how the girls have played with a lot of emotion and heart this week. If we will stay aggressive serving and at the net, I'll look forward to seeing what we can accomplish. Defense and setters never get as much spotlight, but I have proud of our hustle and grit this week. They have really helped our hitters be successful!
Following the tradition of sister acts at Hackett, has a younger sister Bailey making an impact for Hackett, and she's putting together a pretty impressive season of her own.
With Hackett chasing an unprecedented third consecutive state title, Bailey will have an opportunity to make her own mark on the program's history.
The Edwards sisters have been a big part of Hackett's success. Now they're just two wins away from helping the Lady Hornets accomplish something that's never been done at their school.

Cotter's season ended in last year's semifinals against Taylor. Now the Lady Warriors are back, led by the McNutt sisters, looking to take the next step. Standing in their way is Mansfield, the defending 3A state champion that moved down to 2A this season. The Lady Tigers already know how to win a state championship, and they're trying to do something special by winning titles in consecutive seasons across two classifications.
We had an exciting and high energy game last night against Piggott. Our team came together as a whole, at just the right time. I hope we match that energy going into tonight. Cotter is a great team with lots of height. However, we are smart and know how to use things to our advantage. We are ready for the competition and hope to get through another round!

3A Semifinals | Busted Brackets and Unexpected Contenders
If you had Mayflower and Harrisburg meeting in the state semifinals, congratulations. You're probably doing better than most of us.
The 3A bracket has been turned upside down. Crowley's Ridge Academy and Conway Christian entered the tournament as two of the favorites, but both are heading home after quarterfinal losses.
Now four teams are just one win away from playing for a state championship, and with defending champion Mansfield moving to 2A, we know somebody new will be taking home the trophy.
Fountain Lake vs. Charleston
Two regional champions who know a little something about coming from behind. Fountain Lake rallied from two sets down to beat Conway Christian in the South Regional final. Charleston did the same against Paris in the North Regional championship. Both teams have shown they can handle adversity, but one will have to find a way to take control before falling behind. Which team keeps its run alive? Charleston has been hot at the right time winning 8 of their last 9.
If Fountain Lake is going to punch its ticket to Hot Springs, the Lady Cobras will need a big performance from senior outside hitter The Road to Hot Springs: One Win from Glory, One Loss from HomeTheRoad to Hot Springs: One Win from Glory, One Loss from Home

a few days ago, but Charleston is going to need more than one player stepping up if the Lady Tigers want to punch their ticket to Hot Springs. Keep an eye on…
This is the matchup few people saw coming. Mayflower knocked off top-seeded Crowley's Ridge Academy in four sets, while Harrisburg sent Conway Christian home with a four-set victory of its own. Two of the biggest quarterfinal surprises now meet with a trip to Hot Springs on the line. Neither team is going to be intimidated by the moment after what they accomplished Tuesday.
Mayflower has already shaken up the 3A state tournament by knocking off Crowley's Ridge Academy, but if the Lady Eagles want to keep their championship run alive, they'll need contributions from more than just The Road to Hot Springs: One Win from Glory, One Loss from HomeTheRoad to Hot Springs: One Win from Glory, One Loss from Home

4A Semifinals | Heavyweights, Home-Court Pressure and a Wide-Open Championship
Four teams remain in 4A, and unlike the 3A bracket, several of the preseason favorites are right where we expected them to be. Brookland, Pottsville and Bauxite all entered state as No. 1 seeds. Haskell Harmony Grove has battled its way into the semifinals, and with defending champion Pulaski Academy now competing in 5A, we know a new champion will be crowned.
Brookland vs. Pottsville
Two regional champions, two No. 1 seeds and two teams that have spent the season proving they belong among the best in 4A. Brookland knocked off Baptist Prep in four sets in the quarterfinals, while Pottsville swept Morrilton. The Lady Bearcats have plenty of offensive firepower with Lynley SeylerLynleySeyler

Brookland | 2028 StateAR
and Finley Lawless, but Pottsville has been playing some of its best volleyball when it matters most. This one has all the makings of a championship match, except somebody is going home.
From Coach Stabler:
We are just ready to play and see what we can do! (she said after driving the team bus!)
From Coach Dillon:
I think it's going to be a dog fight. I feel like we're evenly matched, we both have dominant outsides and primarily that's our go to players. They are scrappy so we're going to have to stay in system so we can hit our shots. Overall I think it's going to be a great game!
