Division 2 features some of the best multi-position players in the state.

One position that is featured in a number of those players is setter.

D2 has great players capable of impacting the game all over the court, but especially at setter.

Here’s a look at some of the top setters in Division 2.

Aly Borellis, Jr. Notre Dame Prep

Borellis is one of the most dynamic players in the state, as she can excel anywhere on the floor. However, setter may be her strongest spot. The recent Ole Miss commit was First Team All-State in 2019 while helping the Irish reach Battle Creek once again. She had an incredible stat line of 761 assists, 595 kills, 450 digs, 101 blocks and 96 aces. There isn’t anything Borellis can’t do on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="66296" first="Skylar" last="Bump"], Soph. Lakewood

Bump was one of the most impactful freshman in the state last fall while helping Lakewood get to the Division 2 state final. She was Second Team All-State after amassing 1,313 assists, 296 digs, 138 kills and 90 aces. While Bump has some tremendous hitters to work with, she displayed the skillset needed to become one of the greats in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="24845" first="Renee" last="Brines"], Jr. Cadillac

Another talented sophomore setter in 2019, Brines helped Cadillac reach the regional final before falling to Kingsley in five sets. Brines put up 1,344 assists, 508 digs, 107 kills, 47 aces and 42 blocks. She was named Honorable Mention All-State and comes into 2020 as one of the top junior setters in the state. Brines has been able to begin her 2020 season and is off to a strong start.

Raegan Murphy, Sr. Montague

Murphy helped Montague win a district title in 2019 and was Honorable Mention All-State. She is a tremendous leader on the floor vocally, but also has outstanding numbers. Murphy amassed 1,565 assists, 337 digs, 147 kills, 90 aces and 50 blocks. Murphy got in some matches this week and already looked in peak form.

Camille Wadley, Sr. Vicksburg HMAS

Wadley is a player that can set or play libero in the back row. She earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in 2019 after helping Vicksburg win a district championship. A vocal leader, Wadley has been able to also lead with her performance on the floor. She has great instincts and makes the right plays in the big moments.

[player_tooltip player_id="66343" first="Corrie" last="Wisser"], Soph. Hopkins

Wisser was another impactful freshman setter in Division 2. The Vikings had a standout season with nearly 50 wins while Wisser put up 807 assists, 244 digs, 174 kills, 72 aces and 32 blocks. She showed that she can finish at the net as a hitter when not setting the ball. Wisser gained a lot of confidence and experience last year and that should lead to a strong 2020 campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id="24865" first="Julia" last="Mills"], Jr. Airport

Mills is another player that can move from the front row to the back. She is a great passer along with her setting ability. Mills plays with a lot of competitive fire and is a reliable leader for the Jets. She has great court awareness and puts herself in the right positions to succeed.

Honorable Mention: [player_tooltip player_id="66300" first="Paige" last="Elliott"], Soph. Detroit Country Day; Shannon Russel, Sr. West Catholic; [player_tooltip player_id="24836" first="Cayden" last="Anschutz"], Jr. Grand Rapids CC; [player_tooltip player_id="60848" first="Alivia" last="Castle"], Jr. Ionia; [player_tooltip player_id="92066" first="Reagan" last="Stempin"], Jr. Regina; [player_tooltip player_id="92236" first="Josie" last="Teslaa"], Jr. Hudsonville Unity Christian.
